vortech 355 how much is too much oil 
hi i recently got my buudies trans am off of him its a vortech supercharged 355 i noticed the oil was barily showing up on the dipstick so i added a quart well i talk to him the next day and he says he just changed the oil and put in the correct amount and that since he built and painted the motor the dipstick tube doesnt go down all the way so it doesnt read correctly so my qustion is since its supercharged and supplying the blower does it hurt to have alittle extra oil in it thanks for any advice if you have a factory pan it should hold 5 quarts, you could put up to 6 in it and not have any interference with the crank slapping the oil in the pan.
I would drain the oil out in a clean bucket and see what you have in the pan 5/6 quarts. Put the 6 quarts in and check the dip stick to see what it reads then every 3/8 of a inch equals 1 quart on the dip stick

thanks im going to check it sunday while i atempt to replace a seized up o2 sensor that i already have 4 hours on and have rounded the edges so looks like im dropping the exhaust and pullin pass header

If it's the stock pan I would get a clean gallon jug and drain the oil into it. Let the rest drain into a a pan, and poor the gallon back into the engine. Then you'll know. If you get less than a gallon add oil to the jug until it's a full gal. Just be sure you have the truck style pan, and not the vette, they hold more oil. If your not sure post up a pic of the pan.
