Default best intake

Im in the planning stages for a turbo build my inspiration is 98cobrakillers setup but for the intake this will be in a third gen camaro not a 4th gen and I dont plan on using a stock setup

Now for some of you guys using aftermarket intakes what do you suggest for ease looks and performance I am using 317 heads on a built LQ9 bottom

Edelbrock proflow

edelbrock carb intake with elbow

stock

or what else is out there I dont want to spend in the 3000 range for custom sheetmetal setups but just curios to whats working good

Right now i like the proflow or the carb with elbow

stock LS6 and TB will work perfectly and cost virtually nothing.

Cant really see the other two offering huge benefits for the money.

value for money, nothing beats the LS6

There you have it. Alot of people in the 9's and Mighty Mouse i belive is in the 8's with one. Although i think he has a 90MM TB on it.

I think he runs a stock TB.

There is absolutely no need for a 90mm TB. There's a Ute in Australia running 8.2 at high 160's with a stock LS6 intake and TB. Or at least it did 2-3 years ago. Probably quicker now

Im using the Edelbrock single plane with Aarons elbow, just for a different look over the plastic stuff. Either of the Edelbrock ones will work fine.

With 317 heads run the ls6. My formula went 9.0 on pump gas with a ls6 intake and stock tb on top of some afr225's. Later on if you upgrade to some really nice heads then you can look into a intake to complement that.

As much as I'd like a ProFlo myself, I'm still not convinced the plenum itself is large enough to actually make it worth while

look at camaro andreas.....he's makin well over 1000 on a proflo....I personally am running one and have no complaints at all, went 9.90 on low boost and a base tune....i can stick my arm clear to the back of that thing....the plenum i believe is plenty large.....they come as a 90mm TB opening, but being aluminum and quite thick, i'd imagine you could port the hell out of it as well....my opening is a 94mm.......

Ever think that 427 and two ******* massive turbochargers has anything to do with it ? He'd make that sort of power regardless of intake.

The plenum doesnt appear that big. In general, the plenum would be at least the size of the engine, and it doesnt appear to have 6-7 litres of volume, although I may be wrong.

ET's are as much about traction as power. So using that as a guide can be misleading, and when a stock TB can easily handle 1000+, most certainly dont need 90mm+

Is all of your boost/intake plumbing 90mm+ ? If not, almost seems silly to run an excessively large TB.

I'm sure the Proflo is a great intake, and I'd like to be running one myself. But I dont believe it will offer much benefit over either an LS6 or carb style.
Although I'd hope it might free up the top end a bit.

Oddly, true back to back comparisons of any intakes on a boosted application seem to be very rare. Or at least rarely published.
Carrying this out on a turbocharged setup is pointless too IMO, as boost is too easily manipulated.
A test on a good blower setup, where the intake really is the only change to airflow would prove which is best.
