best intake
Now for some of you guys using aftermarket intakes what do you suggest for ease looks and performance I am using 317 heads on a built LQ9 bottom
Edelbrock proflow
edelbrock carb intake with elbow
stock
or what else is out there I dont want to spend in the 3000 range for custom sheetmetal setups but just curios to whats working good
Right now i like the proflow or the carb with elbow
There is absolutely no need for a 90mm TB. There's a Ute in Australia running 8.2 at high 160's with a stock LS6 intake and TB. Or at least it did 2-3 years ago. Probably quicker now

The plenum doesnt appear that big. In general, the plenum would be at least the size of the engine, and it doesnt appear to have 6-7 litres of volume, although I may be wrong.
ET's are as much about traction as power. So using that as a guide can be misleading, and when a stock TB can easily handle 1000+, most certainly dont need 90mm+
Is all of your boost/intake plumbing 90mm+ ? If not, almost seems silly to run an excessively large TB.
I'm sure the Proflo is a great intake, and I'd like to be running one myself. But I dont believe it will offer much benefit over either an LS6 or carb style.
Although I'd hope it might free up the top end a bit.
Oddly, true back to back comparisons of any intakes on a boosted application seem to be very rare. Or at least rarely published.
Carrying this out on a turbocharged setup is pointless too IMO, as boost is too easily manipulated.
A test on a good blower setup, where the intake really is the only change to airflow would prove which is best.
