Default FI question

Sorry if i end up writing a book, but im a bit confused on some things now..
A while ago i visited one of the local tuning shops in the Omaha NE area because a friend of mine got hired there. We got to talking and he brought out his expert at the shop and we were talking about turbo vs supercharging. He made a very compelling argument saying that turbos are hands down better because they can achieve more boost, reach full boost faster and more efficiently, and that high psi superchargers have many belt slippage issues. Anyway, i recently stumbled across an article that said roots/twin screw type s/cs reach their full boost pressure at low rpm and sustain it throughout. Also that belt slippage has been nearly eliminated. So Im wondering if they are just bias there or maybe he was only thinking of centrifugal s/cs. I love the wine of a supercharger and am also asking you all if it would be better to use an aps turbo on my camaro or the whipple s/c to make between 700-850 rwhp?

The End haha

Go to the search and look for whipple and kenne bell. Those are the big boys in the twin screw world. You'll have hours of reading with many back and forth debates. The bottom line though is that for an fbody, it's not the way to go. The inlets are restrictive and there is poor hood clearance which usually means that the intercooler is undersized. Your "expert" was actually correct. Belt slip issues are just as bad on the twin screws when you push them hard.

There are many options out there for centri S/C's that take belt slip down to about none. Centri's are real liniar in their power, they start to "shine" in the mid range and carry on all the way to redline. Turbos power can come in as early as its setup to with cam choices and size. Turbos are more efficient as they obviously don't require direct engine power to drive. Any of the setups can make good power and be fun. Procharger has some of the most efficient centri's on the market in that category.

thanks for the info guys, i'm not sure if this is true for all kenne bell superchargers, but i read that they use a pull through system and cant produce high boost. I like the whipple because they claim that they can reach 30 psi. the most i'd ever need is 19 psi max lol
im thinking of taking a 6.0 ls2 block and boring it to fit a set of ls9 pistons. and use ls9 cam then port and polish my ls1 heads and finish with 1.8 rockers
