Default forged 346 ls1 or iron 370?

As.some of you have seen I'm in the process of changing my setup only due to the fact that I blew my forged ls1 last year. Not the engines fault. Bad gas or tune.

Any who I have a chance now to switch it up or just stick with what worked. So the iron 370 is about 400 cheaper, iron, slightly larger cube but heavier.

Aluminum ls1 is light, block is good to more power than I need and ive had great success with them in the past.

What should I do. My set up is going to be a full weight fbody,9 inch 300ish gear,4l65 w 3600 stall. 1.52.ar housing tc78 w 3.5dp, ported 241s,turbo cam, thinking 9.5 compression. Hoping for about 750whp on 15psi. Did 675whp with forged ls1 last year, same heads, cam, intake but with a restrictive .96 housing and 3 inch dp.

my main goal is 9 sec time slip. With a 1.68 60 it went 10.4 @ 133. It also only made power till about 5600 due to running out of turbo and gear. I believe the aluminum ls1 will get me there. What do you think guys?

Just stick with the LS1 block. I personally went with a built 370 when i blew my stock motor. If I could go back I prolly would have just built my LS1 block.

LQ block all the way IMO. The weight penalty is only about a 1/4 psi of boost worth and these cars can use a little extra weight on the nose to keep from going on the bumper.

I see you making a street car that is heavier and heavier than stock. I don't think you have a 6 pt bar in the TA yet either so you'd be adding 75 for the bar and 80 for the block. You'd most certainly need to run race gas to run 9.9x @ that weight with those cubes.

Thanks for the link. I was also talking to aes. They have a 390 using the iron 6.0 block for about $3500. So the 347, 370 and the 390 are pretty much the same price. Im thinking of doing the 390 and calling it a day. It will support me later if I want to make even more power.

Couple question if I go 390. Would my ported 241 head kill this setup? I dont have the cash for heads right now. Right now im running a 226/228 .595 115lsa cam? Should i step it up? Also im running an ls6 intake stock tb also.

Last question. How would a tc78 with a 1.52 ar housing work with those kind of cubes?
