Default GSS Twin Turbo TBSS (AWD) in Work

So I decided to give the turbo a try again on the TBSS. Instead of a front mount though, I sent my truck to Louis @ GSS to build a Twin Turbo kit that will also be produced. Myself and another TBSS (2WD) will be in his shop taking up lift space for a few weeks till this gets done.

Originally this truck has been planned and backed out of several different builds. Started off as a Procharged setup, then was going to do the Single Front Turbo, then a LS7 427, and almost went with a F1 Procharger setup. Well after rebuilding my shortblock with forged internals and all new bearings, I had to leave for Iraq on somewhat short notice. So I got it running and had to go.

My little brother drove it down there from Kentucky in this shitty weather you guys are having. Got there with no problems. Anyway, he will post some pictures up and Louis will also be posting in here to answer questions. Guys as the price on the TBSS is coming down a bit, the mod list is starting to pic up and its just starting to get fun on these things.

Anyway, just a heads up. More to follow later. As for the turbo selection I am letting Louis basically build then push his (planned) standard kit on my TBSS to see what it can do. So as he has already changed the planned turbo i beleive the Kit will be with a Precision 6262 or 6265 now, I will let him explain those details. I will also be upgrading my transmission from a FLT level 7 with YANK 3200 to a 4L80e with a 3000 stal converter as well. It will be dyno'd. This kit will be a production kit for the TBSS that is planned to fit the AWD & 2WD as a bolt on. This is going to be fun.

I believe the truck is in good hands. Later guys. (As parts are added I will list them here so people will not have to read through my long winded threads )

Twin Precision 6262's (Manifolds)
LS2 Forged Short Block (Already installed from previous Procharger Kit)
FLT Level 7 4L70e with Yank (Might be upgrading to 4L80e with 3000 stall in near future)
Fuel system and injectors to support up to 750 HP
E Boost 2
Custom front cross member
efan's
14 Bolt with 4.10 gears (AWD) (Comes that way stock)

I will use this thread as an update thread for everyone to follow with pics and R&D along the way. It will serve two fold as an update to Damon and an update to everyone else as we progress.

Today I plan to wash Damons truck, take a set down of it ( scratches, dings, small issues) so he knows I didnt scratch it, or he knows if I did scratch it and fix the oil leak that developed on the drive down.

The setup will no longer use 20Gs as a base, but instead use a Precision billet 58mm to the largest 67mm and will use twin 38mm or 46mm external gates.

I will keep this thread moving

Very cool idea. Any plans to change the stock 4.10 gears?

Nope, to change the front diff gears will be rediculously expensive. Actually no one has changed the front gears to my knowledge. Some have changed the 2wd version though to 3.42 but I would have to use a regular TB (they made them with 3.42's and 3.73's but strength is questionable) front diff. Changing the front gears is nothing like a traditional 4WD system. Hell the front diff physically bolts to the oil pan.

Love Turbo charged TBSS.... So much fun to drive

Good luck on your build

Not sure what / who made the wheels. They are a 3 piece wheel the customer bought used from a truck in texas I guess. It's holding up well He had RPM transmission go thru the whole trans and update it to a level 7 and changed out the stall to a hard core coan. He also had 6 pistion Baer brakes added front and rear, Now it can stop

Nice. I wonder if the Trailblazer EXT I think it is with the 5.3 and 3.42 diffs could handle this kit.
Will be interesting to see how much mpg this thing doesn't get .

After talking with Louis @ GSS last night, the final turbo on the truck will be Twin Precision 6262's.

Honestly I do not see my MPG getting worse then that. maybe 13MPG at the most, maybe who knows maybe it will get better.

Anxiously watching this Damon. I still havent done the turbo yet on my TBSS. If they do a good job for you for a reasonable price I will consider going that route myself. I'm definitely gonna consider swapping gears though...I think with the boost turned down and 3.55 gear you actually could pick up a few mpg. Depending on the terrain I usually am setting at 16+mpg now...

Be safe man...I'll be watching the thread.

Parts are starting to show up. It will be mid next week before I begin to tear the truck apart. Still waiting on flanges/clamps, and doing intercooler modeling.

once that is done, things will go quickly. I will then pull everything back off, and make a Jig, and then produce 5 pieces off the jig. If they all fit correctly, we will go back on track with Damons truck. If they are not, we will fix the issues and hit it again.

What kind of power are you looking to make. Im starting assembly on my AWD SSS and im curious about the t-case and diffs. Other than that, 4l80e yanks 3000. 402, s400 80mm 1.32 ar (remote mount), sound performance spool valve, 50mm gate, and dump. progressive methanol and similar intercooler,ams500. Ill start a build thread soon. looking forward to see how your tbss turns out. How much do those things weigh? My truck is around 5,500.
