Prior to my LSX build, I spoke with Beau at HKE about this issue at length. They don't Sonic test their LSX blocks and tell me there's no real reason due to the fact that they are able to look at the block and visually determine if they've got core shift with relative ease. Most will agree that HKE is held in high regard, so I gladly accepted this answer and let go of the sonic testing idea prior to the build.

HKE is highly regarded but I still wouldn't buy a LSX without it being sonic tested first. There is no-way to tell by eye.
