Default what engine to go with

ok, let me start by saying I am a newb to this turbo stuff. But i am wanting to start some research on building a high hp streetable turbo car. It will have a 6 speed tranny because its not going to be a race car, just a big hp car thats fun to drive. So my question is what is the best engine to start with? I hear a lot about using the truck motors because they are cheaper, and have iron blocks so they can hold more boost, so which one would be better the 6.0 or 6.2? I plan on going through and forging everything anyway so it might not even make a difference, or would it be more cost efficient to just start with a LSX block? i dont even know how much those things cost. just want your opinions. thanks

somewhere in the 700-1000 range, but I would rather have 700 with good street manners than 1000 without. In a perfect world 1000 with good streetability (everybody's dream right)

Get a 6.0 iron block and call it a day. Could do 1000 and be cost effective.

if money isnt a huge factor i would say aluminum 6.2 block and forged it from there
both the 6.0 and 6.2 blocks will hold 1000hp but the aluminum 6.2 will do it with 80 less # of weight

Thumbs up

Don't know about the 6.2L truck motor but a 6.0L LQ4/LQ9 can sure handle alot of power and I hear the 3.622 stock crank can handle 1K HP.

A +.030 over 6.0L with a stock crank is a 370 cid.

Tons of guys running these just search 370 and be amazed.

Best of luck with your project.
