Lockup at WOT at 1000 rwhp is not a good idea not to mention that a good converter shouldn't need lockup to perform. I have been very happy with my Neal Chance and they nailed it on the first try.

MPH doesn't win drag races and most people that do have WOT lockable torque converters don't see any ET benefit to locking them so they just don't. Lockup prevents the converter from doing what it does best, torque multiplication and shift extension and it's USUALLY only there to give better gas mileage and prevent heat buildup in most converters and it's going to be very rare that you find a manufacturer that would warranty any type of converter doing WOT lockups at 1000+ rwhp because of the wear and tear on the lockup clutch. That being said in the mile runs maybe a manufacturer would spec a WOT lockup converter for something like to reduce heat buildup, or they might not that would be a much better question for the converter builder as they are the expert.

Found one interesting post here...
I lock my 4L80 FMV,Circle-D 4800 stall on the button in the beginning of second gear and shift thew it and went from 101mph to 108 mph and dropped almost a full second and that with a duel stage fogger 300 shot and shifting at 7400 rpm's.

I said most and of course there are going to be certain combinations that can benefit from lockup. That particular one sounds pretty off or it was designed to be locked to perform if it picks up that dramatically from lockup because that gain is tremendous. From the looks of it that converter is designed to perform best locked up anyways.

Yes I'm sceptical about such extreme cases myself.
Anyway, we are a bit off topic
