Default Lsa crankshaft

From my research it's a 3.62 forged steel crank shaft. Would it be a drop in on a ls2? For 485 bucks it's a hell of a budget crank. Anyone know if it's a 58x or if it's got the stock ls2 size snout ? What about flywheel bolt configuration?

The forged steel statement was on wikipedia. Will it take a ls2 balancer and flywheel? Anyone have one?

There is a different bolt pattern on the flange of the crank, IIRC LSA is 8 bolts and LS1,2,3,7 are 6 bolts.

Flywheel bolt pattern will be same as ZR1 8 bolt, therefore: good factory twin-disc option.

Nope!

ZR1 is unique with a 9 bolt crank flange.

LSA is unique with 8 bolt crank flange.

Exclamation

What is wrong with the stock LS2,LQ4/9 3.622 inch crank?

Why is the LSA crank "Better"?

I'm curious for the same reason as the op. Its a "forged steel" crankshaft. And for a hell of a price at that. For the stock cube or 370 guys etc. That seems like a helluva deal. Added protection at a fraction of the cost. If it'll work.

I'm def not educated on the different motors But is the lsa a dry sump setup? If not then it should be the same length as our cranks?????

Am I completley out of line here?

Aside from the bolt pattern on the flange, the LSA is the same in terms of dimensions as a standard snout ls crank.

Oh, you're right! I was looking at pictures of what I thought was an LSA and the other an LS9 flywheel. Apparently they were both LSA parts lol.

Why would they make cranks with 2 different bolt patterns??

12603616 614 at my local dealer,590 on parts direct.Still not sure on alloy wonder if it is 5140? still a good price. Look out compstar, here we come...finally what appears to be an affordable decent 3.622 crank.Yes I know it has an 8 bolt flange, but that seems to be the direction the general is headed and most of us would be upgrading the flywheel or flexplate anyways.

I'm sure someone would make a flexplate with that bolt pattern. Depending on the price of it though it may just be cheaper to buy a crank that will work with the pattern we're used to.

EDIT: Anyone have a price on the LS9 crank or part number?

does gm not make a flexplate for the lsa? i know you have the option of getting a ctsv with auto? i dont see why you could not use a auto ctsv flexplate?

That is a good point. There would be your 8 bolt flexplate. It is a stock one though, but again on the budget it may not be a bad option. I'd like to see some people track down these part numbers.
