I give up. I have no idea what your "average" Mustang shop is. Is there a listing for them? I threw TP out there as an average shop.....then the story changes. He knows how to tune an LS1..... I bet he knows how to contain the boost also. Did I say he was going to making 1800hp with your turbo kit? If I wanted to make 1800 hp with an LS1, he is who I would go to. He has done it COUNTLESS times on Mustangs. By your logic, I should take it to MTI. They know LS1's inside and out. Only problem, they have never tried to build something with 1800hp, nor have ANY of the LS1 shops. So, do you go where no man has gone before or do you take your car to a shop that has the knowledge to build something of this sort?? Look at AMS, they are an old Mustang shop. They have applied what they learned from racing Mustangs and ran a high 9 with heads/cam and a bottle...think that was the first pass out too. How did they manage to keep the heads on Rob? Nitrous is ALOT harder on parts vs a turbo. They should have ended up in the bleachers being they don't know the deck thickness'...lol They are also building a serious turbo LS1, again, using what they learned from the Mustang world.

I really wish I had the funds to afford a serious turbo LS1. Unfortunately, I do not. I'm stuck with a NA one. My turbo car is my Mustang, it is 90% done..why start over? Driving my car across country is not fun to me. I have an Expedition for that. If that is what floats your boat, then cool. I prefer to get a few 7 sec 1/4 mile time slips.

I'm done for now. If you are ever in TX, look me up. We can get a beer and discuss this some more!

Okay, fair enough. I'm all for a good "debate" with no hard feelings. We can disagree and still respect each others' opinions.

Have a good weekend.

I really havn't read all 3 pages of this post, but for what i have read, no one menchaned, that you can spray nitrous to spool the turbo up faster, while reducing air temps, which produces more power at a lower rpm.. ive seen this done many times on toyota supra's.. and or spray the intercooler..

hey guys
i might be able to shed a little light or at least my thoughts on this subject. I use to owne a 98 6sp Twin turbo (later single) turbo supra and before i sold it was making a little over 700 hp with a 3.0 inline 6 (the stock engine). Like i said i was making a monsterous amount of power but it wasnt till 4800rpm that you could really feel it. I was getting spanked by juiced LS1's from a stop , now from a 40 roll i would kill. Why was i getting beat by 400-500hp cars? Torque! A juiced ls1 has torque and HP when he pushes that button and most do it off the line if not shortly after. And bam instant torque! Now me i had to wait till they are half way down the track for my car to spool the turbo up (turbo lag) so that i was achieveing my dyno proven 700+ rwhp. I know a lot of people think why dont you just rev it up off the line to 4800 rpm and then go. Well boost building isnt that simple on turbo charged cars , because as long as your increasing the throttle your building boost but if you let up off the gas and hold it at an rpm youll notice your boost guage will drop boost and be back at vacum even if your holding at like 6k rpm your not going to be making the power off the line that you have recorded on a dyno at that rpm . So what do you do?
I bought a 2 step rev limiter, i believe you can contact Y2KHAWK as he has made and sells them. This allows you to make a false redline at any rpm you would like and enables you to build boost off the line. How it works (or at least how mine worked for the supra) is you will engage the 2 step at what ever redline you would like and then press your gas all the way down which gives you full throttle and makes boost. The 2 step just bounces off the false redline enabling you to keep the gas floored and build your boost off the line.
this is what worked for me . It gave me somewhat instant torque and hp off the line. Now other considerations are your suspension, engine management, the irs rearend, too steep of a power and torque curve, ect .. are all factors of boosted car not getting the traction/ launches they need for that low 1/4 mile time
For an example of the two step in action go to titanmotorsports.com ro this link http://www.titanmotorsports.com/900160mph.html and down load the 9.00 video. At this time the car was making 800rwhp and was still being street driven it was an m6 also. y2khawk makes the two steps for your car so hey get one. oh yeah any it sounds awesome
