Default Yank PY3600- opinions needed

I'm looking into possibly purchasing a YANK PY3600 for my setup, and was just wondering how many of you guys are runing this particular stall converter with their boosted setup.

I have a F1C Procharged C5 (3:73 gears) making ~775rwhp, soon to be well over 800+rwhp and am considering trying this converter. I currently run a Vig 5-Disc 3400 stall, but I'm not really liking the way it performs at the track or on the street with my setup...

Note: I've literally read all the PY3600 threads on the forum, just would like further opinions before I throw $1,000 on a converter.

TIA

Elvir-save your money-keep the stall-I went 9.0@155 with it. Just hook up a lockup switch, come to Indiana with me on a test session and I'll get u solidly into the 9's.

I actually went from the PY 3400 to the Yank SS 3600. It made a BIG difference in my mph, 1/4 times and 60'. I don't know why. I bought that PY because I was a boosted car. After talking with them, they suggested the SS series. I wish I would have talked with them first.

On another note, Arun knows what he's talking about. His advice goes along way.

It;s funny you said that. I actually ran a SS 3600 for an entire season before switching to the Vig-5 disc converter. The only reason I made the switch was because everyone I spoke with (Including Dave at Yank) said the power I'm making would be too much for the SS 3600. But honeslty, the car felt like it had 100HP more with the SS 3600 then with the current Vig 5-disc....not sure why.

If I can't get deep into the 9's with my current converter, then I'll have to decide to either go back to the SS 3600 and take my chances, or just try out the PY 3600.

tomz28,

Why are you switching from a PY 3600 to the PY 3400?

10.90's to 10.48, 125 mph to 132.75, 1.7's to 1.60. I could launch harder, but I'm still on an unbroken 10-bolt. Air quality could of played a bit into that factor.

tomz28,

i need a tighter converter. i make a good amount of power and i am only seeing 600rpm drop when i shift going down the track. Dave said i need to be more like 800rpm drop

a SS converter from yank is only good for 600hp

My SS3600 drops to about 5200 rpm on the shift. The PY3400 dropped to about 4800 rpm. The SS3600 keeps me more in the power band.

Umm. You may want to change the batteries in that calculator because 6600-5200= 1400.

You guys running these 3400-3600 converters are leaving a bunch of ET on the table. My FTI stall around 4600 and at full boost has an 800-900 shift extension (7200 to 6400). 5200 RPM is dropping you WAY out of the powerband.

There was a PY3600 for sale over on the truck side. Im running a PY3400 and love it. I blow thru it pretty bad with my HP/weight at sea level but still have 1.37 60" off the foot brake. Shift extention is from 6200 to 6K. This is at 4850lbs turning all 4.

98Z, So are you suggesting a bigger stall 3800+??? I think I may try the PY3600, so We'll see I guess.... If that doesn't work, then back to a SS3600 I go.

Thanks!
