Default ac and what else?

OK, I removed the ac pump, condencer, and that tank thing. But what is that big black thing on the firewall? Can it be removed or is there the blower motor in there, and if i still do remove it then what am I left with defrost only? Or no b/c of blower motor. All I want is defrost!
I was going to remove everything vents, controls, ac, ect... and replace the open space behind the plated off firewall with a small race unit with just a on/off switch!

that black box is your heater defrost blower.
so if you get rid of that you'll lose defrost.

they do have smaller heater/blower units available, like in jegs or summit for racing applications but then you have to rig up your ducting to the defroster.

And then I would lose everything. Cool then all I need is to find a small blower/heater for defrost.

I removed the black box by cutting it off behind the firewall and bolting it back on . I made a plate to cover the hole. I still have heat and defrost. You have to remove the dash to get the box out. The heater core and motor are behind the firewall.

When I cut it,first I had to remove it from the car. Took it out after I removed the dash board. The part in the engine bay is for the A/C,I sawed that off. The hole is filled flush with the fire wall. I put a bubble in the plate in front of the duct work(maybe not required)and a opening for the heater lines. I "ported" the duct work a bit and reinstalled. The main reason I did this was for header clearence and looks. It did not weigh very much. The plate uses the same bolt holes as the "black box"

Oh so the plate will make the firewall flat! Then all the the blower and defrost goes inside the car. I didn't get the cuting the black box part. I am sure that it will all come together whrn the das is off!
