So im installing a gt45 front mount turbo to my built 355 lt1 and am curious to how this car with drive with the 6 speed..I know people are going to say go auto for turbo cars, but in a STREET driven 650 rwhp car, whats funner (or faster for street racing)
A 6 speed 650whp F1A sc'd car..
Or a 6 speed 650 whp front mount turbo charged car?
Opinions?![Engarde](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies3/engarde.gif)
Guess im just trying to see if my car will be faster in a roll street race with 650 turbo hp instead of 650 sc'd power..

650hp is 650hp. The blown car is going to feel faster on the hit because it's instant power. The turbo car might actually get a little better traction because of the lag. If I were going to to a 6spd "street" car, it'd be a turbo car. I've heard too many stories of how blower belts dont like manual cars.

yea i knew everyone would favor autos...the question is if you have a 6 speed car which is funner to drive..you cant be telling me that there arent people that like turbo cars and like turns?

Another big vote for blower 6sp. My first FI car was a 2000 TT T/A DD. Did not care at all for the lag then sudden torque curve...couldn't spin out, donut, or drift when I wanted to play. This time I'm doing a 6sp procharger to have that instant and manageable power hit right on tap.

I guess ill be the outcast and vote Turbo 6speed(Im bias anyways) The instant power sucks on street tires because you just spin. With a nice laggy turbo, you get that steady sucked into the seat and stay there feeling(as long as the tires arent spinning)

See thats the only thing ive ever known was what i had myself..ive only ridden in a couple of 900+ whp cars, but they were both supercharged vettes..my car had 411s and an f1a and now im going to 3.50s and a gt45 turbo..
So is first gear just garbage until the turbo spools? I cant imagine it being THAT bad..

I have a bias opinion, I have a 6 speed procharger car and it puts a grin on my face everytime I hit the go pedal. I am in your desired power range as well. only problem i have is a little belt slip when the belt starts to get old. I would recomend a tensioner bracket like the aster bracket from day 1.

i know its not a fbody but i had a vw vr6 corrado, that i had a vortech on and then went turbo, i much preferred the turbo, with a properly sized turbo you should have more power sooner then a centrifugal
although the centrifugal was nice in the canyons as i knew exactly how the car was going to react once you got on it, with the turbo i would just hold on and pray!
also i don't know for sure but it seemed to get better gas mileage with the turbo

turbo here. i absoluely love my turbo 6-spd. i have driven a s/c mustang auto, s/c mustang manual, s/c auto camaro, s/c vette manual. the superchargers are fun, dont get me wrong, but the power is there all the time. since its there all the time, you kinda get used to it.
theres something special about the way you accelerate in a turbo car when it takes a second for the boost to come in. its like you hit the "light speed ahead" button.
i gave a girl a ride in my car once, and after screaming and thinking she was in a rocket, we stopped and she asked me, "what did you do?" why did it go so fast all of a sudden? did you hit a secret button?" lol it was hilarious

You're going to get a 50/50 split on this one. Sorry. Do whichever you think you'll be happier with.
If I was going a 6spd street car it would be a blower no doubt.
My GTO was a 6spd for the first 5 years of its life. I then went to a 4L80e and have never looked back. Honestly it's MORE fun to drive now with the auto. And it's a turbo car.

Having tuned and driven more turbo and supercharged cars than I can remember my answer is TURBO. On average you have a much larger powerband with a turbo setup than you do a procharger, and in the OPs example of the difference between a 650 whp procharged T56 car and 650 whp turbocharged T56 car the turbo car will almost always be faster. A turbo is making peak boost through pretty much the whole gear where as you are building up to peak boost with the procharger just to have to shift again.

That what i was looking for..i am only going to change from sc to turbo and putting in taller gears..not looking to make any more than 650, it just seems like roll racing is turbo territory
