Unhappy Fml!

was installing my arp head stud kit and I was using the arp thread chaser the first hole was super tough and when I pulled it out it had ton of goop on the chaser finished the first hole and moved to the second it got hard as the first one did and pop the chaser snapped in half at the very bottomby the threads and to make matters worse it snapped at a angle so I called all the shops in my area and basically they said I'm screwed so it's back to square one anyone got a ls2 block?

no I could take some but you can't see anything it's completly at the bottom of the hole. I'm tryin to avoid going out there for a couple of days to let the nasty stomach feeling go away. Good news though I found a complete 6.0 a guys gonna sell me for 400 bucks and I can sell eveything off it to make some money back and a local shop qouted me about 500 to 600 bucks to swap the whole shortblock ovr including boring to size ect so on a positive side of things I'll get a fresh clean up and a pretty new paint job on my block. But I still fell sick to my stomach bluh

Find another machine shop. A decent machine shop should be able to run a drill down there and then use an easy-out to back it out. Nothing is impossible.

Yep, a good machinist should be able to take a carbide end mill and blast a hole in that middle of that tap. Then, easy out it.

I found the 6.0 locally in our classifieds I called every shop in town and they all told me to call one other and I did he said he could burn it out but it would need to be completely dissasembled cause he has to use a chemical and if it touches anything else like rings ect then there toast.

call a dealership and ask if they use a bolt removal specialist. when i worked at the chevy dealer, if someone snapped a headbolt, they would call in a special company to remove it. ps, you ABSOLUTELY can get that tap out. its not a big deal. pretty simple actually

It can be removed, any cadillac dealer engine tech should have the tools to do it. Reason I say Caddy dealer is that they do time sert in just about every aluminum block they take apart thye should be able to do it. If the motor is on a stand I am sure it would only be a few hrs.

It can be done relatively easily as long as there's nothing goofy going on. I've done it in tons of other large machinery and parts.

I had the same thing happen to me when building my 347. Took my old man about 20 minutes to get it out with an old school Snap On extractor

There's some really good threads on here about removing broken head bolts. I used some of the methods to get a broken bolt out of an old LT1 intake manifold I had.

i believe the tap is hardend and the old lt1 bolts arent? am i wrong?
if im right its not the easiest to drill and remove
but a good machine shop like everyone says could do it alot cheaper than buying a new block
