370ci - 2 cams to choose from

Default 370ci - 2 cams to choose from

I have 2 cams to choose from (ones I have already)

-Stock LS6 cam
or
-235/244 .557/.559 117

Combo is a 370ci 9.8:1 compression. Truck manifold , PT76GTSH,
317 heads ported by me. Patriot Gold springs. Vic Jr intake. 120lbs/hr injectors. E-85.
Full weight street car.

Which cam would be better? More power potential? Characteristics of both? Or should I find another cam?

Of the 2 I think the ls6 would be better suited for the turbo. The other cam has too much exhaust duration and will likely hurt spool

I was planning on using the LS6 cam, just had the option of using the other one. Thanks.

Works well on smaller motor. I had a buddy of mine that had a ls6 cam in the 6.0 in his turbo truck and he said the thing would peak by 6000rpm and wouldn't pull much farther.

That second cam looks like something for a really high reving setup with a BIG exhaust housing. I'd use the LS6 cam also if I were you.

Do you really want your hot rod to sound stock? I'd say you'd be leaving some power on the table with the LS6 cam. Lingenfelter, Virginia Speed, Speed Inc, and Thunder Racing have a whole mess of turbo cams to choose from.

Why would he blame the cam? I have it in the 6.0 in my car now that is coming out. The thing pulled just fine up to 7000. It worked awesome.

Yea, stock sounding would be cool...its going to be driven daily. If I could find a used cam i might consider. But the prices of new ones are insane.


Anyone know what kind of power gain could be had with a mild "turbo cam" over the LS6 cam? I dont want something rough and lopey.

Ran the time in sig below with my 215 Isky turbo cam.
That was with hand ported 317's as well(305cfm @.550")
Pull 1000 lbs off that, and a fix the arrow dynamics it might show some decent power.

If you search stock48 on youtube you will find a idle clip of both the Isky 215, and 212 cams.
