sts turbo fried? Remote mounted STS turbo powered by a 416ci. been making nasty popping noises when ever creating boost, even at 1psi. Finally locked up the compressor and stopped it from spinning lol. I only put like 4000 miles on this thing, it was getting anough oil and it never got hot. All the blades were chipped and rubbing against the turbo walls. POS! I'm guessing its time for a new one, any suggestions on some websites for some nice quality turbos?
If it was the standard fbody kit, it would be a T60. A T60 feeding a 416 at any kind of decent boost level is going to overspin it and blow it up rather quickly. Time to move to something larger.
I was thinking the same thing, I had that happen on with a t67. On a 416 your going to need a much larger turbo, your back pressure must have been crazy.

well can somebody point me in the right direction on where to look for one? i obv know it was way too small but i got it for almost free so i wasent gonna say no. its a ls3 bored to a 6.8 i have a 3800 stall and 3.73's. i would like to run 10psi. i have two racing fuel pumps and 80lb/hr injectors. thanks guys
