Comp turbo OILLESS TURBOS
Comp turbo OILLESS TURBOS i was wondering if anyone is running or know someone running an oil less comp turbo.it could be some big advantages of a oil less turbo.but will they take the abuse?i talked to one of the sales guys and he said they need to be serviced every 50000 miles.

not many out there yet, mostly the smaller stuff on DSMs and such. they just started releasing them a couple months ago so they will be getting more info over the summer. Perfect for a rear mount though or small twins down low! Too bad they are so expensive
I have been unable to find anyone using one yet. The coolest thing about no oil is that the turbo can not only be mounted low but can also be mounted on any axis. The cartridge no longer has to be parallel to the ground. I hope that it works out.

i'd like to see the bearings they use that can handle the speed, load and heat a turbo produces. can't find any pics of a cut away of the turbo. will be interesting to see how it can handle the abuse.

just talked to one of the sales rep,the oil less ones take oil . The cool thing is they don't have parallel to the ground ,they can be mounted vertical . they do spool faster 1000 1500 faster .The bad thing is little pricey .
i already have a 67mm billet wheel oil less turbo.its not installed.i just want to see if anyone has had any issues. but you said the sales rep says the oil less one takes oil.my turbo has the oil feed blocked off and doesn't take oil.it only has coolant hook ups.i paid 1650 shipped for my turbo. i dont think that is to bad of a price.every other company that has equal ball bearing turbos are priced similar.

The way the comp turbos work is that they use very high speed angular bearings, there are 2 opposing on the compressor side, and a third on the turbine side that is under light spring pressure to account for thremal expansion.
The oil less turbos are basically just a standard comp TBB center, the only big advancement is the addition of a very specific extremely high temperature capable grease that is used to pack the bearing unit with. This is expected to last 5 years or 40-50k miles.
They work unbeleiveably, the 70mm and smaller stuff is pretty affordable, but the best 346-408ci turbo is the 8079, and the oil-less version is around $2400. Size for size the Comp will make more power, spool faster, and has a stronger billet compressor wheel than anything else. This is jsut my opinion from experiece

I would pay for that to be able to run for remote mounts without the aid of a e oil pump . That has always been my biggest concern with remote mounts. A electric motor just goes out and period no warning. I think this type turbo would eliminate all the oil supply and return for a remote mount build. And prolly keep cooler than an in bay turbo. Easier to run water lines to and from radiator than drill/tap pan run oil lines and e oil pump IMO
