Ive been doing my 2nd turbo build all winter and it seems like Ive just lost all motivation to finish my car. I feel like it would be easier to throw it all back to stock, then sell it piece by piece and sell the car for book....or just light it on fire to collect the insurance money.

It seems like every little thing I do conflicts with another part of the car, which conflicts with another part and its really stressing me out.

Lately, Ive really contemplated selling both my daily and my WS6 for a nice new(or newish) car that I could use all the time.

just keep taking a break when you get stressed out but dont give up. dont be cheap on anything and take your time. it helps to not set deadline either especially if its not your DD. concentrate on doing everything the way you want it.

Just because some people here seem to turbo a car in a weekend doesnt mean you have to.

if you are building your kit and keep having trouble, ditch it cus there is always KYTP haha.

The only way for things to come together is to keep at it.

 

You can't have that mindset in this hobby. Like mentioned above, getting away from the car for a while builds motivation to get back to it.

Find another hobby for a little bit till you find the inspiration, but don't sell it. You'll regret it.

 

Heh, my car falls under cash for clunkers ****.... Its pretty tempting to get 4500 for it...

 

cash for clunkers doesnt exist this year, buddy.

 

My car is 90 miles one direction away from me and I've spent every weekend for the last 2 months working on my car. It's frustrating when all I want to do is something little but I have to drive all the way and take my whole weekend up. It does get frustrating but the weekends where I had problems and couldn't get parts I went snowmobiling.

I subscribe to the take a break method. It helps tremendously. I was put in a huge gotta-have-it-done-yesterday time crunch swapping the 390 into my car. I was completely alone and working swing shift. When I got it running I drove it home and closed the garage door. It's been 2 months and I haven't even walked in there yet. It feels good because I'm ready to get back to it now and I had another 2 months to save for more parts!

 

If you give up at this point, I'll personally come back up there and strangle you. I know where you live.

 

Take it from a long time car hobbiest, you do get burned out on working on them. Having several hobbies can give you an alternative to the car for a while. You went to a lot of effort so far. Moving the wiring was a major job.

 

When ever I get burned out on my car, I go out and knock a big chunk of work out and then I get in the grove again. I guess I sence of accompolishment. That and I'm out of town for 2 weeks at a time and get 1 week off. So I have plenty of time to get insperation from other peoples builds when I can't work on my own.

 

When I loose interest I just watch some YouTube videos.

 

Walk away from it. It's supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun, go do something fun. When I was rockcrawling I ruined the sport for myself. Building a new chassis every other year... Working 9 hour days and then going out to the garage for another 8 hours everynight. Taking all my vacation time to WORK on the car to have it ready for an event or comp. I did this until I was SICK of it and sold everything. Now I work on the car when I want to... It'll get done someday. Nothing worth making your life miserable over.

 

Quiting is NOT a word ! Nor an option.

 

Taking a break from it is a great option. I just got my car out of storage today and I'm really looking forward to having something to play with again. ...Though you might not want to put it off as long as I have, mine was parked for about 18 months!

 

It is the end of winter blues. I always get depressed in feb and march. Take a break, next month you can get back in the groove

 

Your car sucks, sell it to me instead .

Seriously though, as stated already, take a step back and watch some Youtube videos. They are ALWAYS a confidence booster.

 

I feel ya man!! but what are you going to do with all your free time if you just get a daily driver...you may even turn a little

My advise is to be a and stop , get that car done so you can and not get for being

Thanks everyone, Im feeling better today. Im gonna visit the gym and the shooting range, maybe play some videogames for the day then go back to it tomorrow.
