Default Is this blower cam ok?

INT EXH
advance duration: 291 305
duration at .050: 236 250
lift: 613 613
LSA: 110.5

This cam was spec'ed out by a builder for me. He warned me that it will be very aggressive but it will also make more power. My setup includes a stock bottom end LS1, 317 heads, full bolt ons, P1SC procharger (4.0 blower pulley, 7.25 crank pulley), 3800 stall, 3.50 gears in the rear, fuel pump, 60 lb injectors, etc. Right now I have a mail order tune from Frost. My car definitely isn't running right. It runs strong and doesn't miss but I only estimate it to be around 400 horsepower. My previous setup (heads/cam/stall/full bolts ons) was right about 400 horsepower at the tires and I feel like they both pull about the same. On my wideband I am running a little lean and it does not have a full tune so I do not want to stay on it too long. However, I was expecting the car to be around 550 horsepower at the tires or so and it definitely isn't near this now. Any suggestions?

Question

Hmm, that does not sound like a cam meant for a boost engine at all. My blower cam is a 232/240 595/608 on a 115. I'll bet you're losing most of your boost right out the exhaust valves. Do you have a boost gauge installed? Bob

i do have a boost guage but the car is not tuned that well yet. i know i run lean on full throttle runs so i am scared to stay on it. i really haven't looked at the guage when i quickly stepped on the gas...

Why dont you just get it tuned properly ?

And at that lift etc, and stock bottom end...is there a risk of piston to valve contact ?

That cam is WAY off for a efficient blower combo. My cam is close to Bob's cam. Mine is a 235/243 .613/.623 on a 115. It's pretty dam aggressive...you can hear an Idle vid in my build thread. 110lsa is bad for a FI car. I'd use a different cam.

To generically say it's bad is wrong.

With a big blower it could work well. But a P1Sc is just tiny.

^^^I agree^^^

With a carb intake, big RPM, big blower and open 2" headers, it could work. For your combo, I'd think that Bob's cam would help you alot.

That's true...I should have rephrased it...I generally say it's not the best but bad isn't quite right lol I did say inefficient and should have stuck with it lol. OP I would pick a better suited cam to the combo. A P1 is a pretty small blower and that cam would most likely hurt the combo more then create gains.

I know this thread is a little old, but I am getting 6 psi with a 7.25 crank and a 4.0 blower pulley around 6200-6400 rpm's.
