Default venting wastegate to atmosphere or to downpipe?

I apologize if this topic has been beaten to death, but I am going to start fabbing up my turbo plumbing tomorrow and have a couple questions.

I am doing a C6/truck manifold setup. Stock LS1 short block, e85, TC78, Tial 44mm wastegate, shooting for 550-600 RWHP. Aside from being more quiet, is there any benefit to routing the wastegate back to the downpipe? I am running a 3 inch downpipe, so I don't know if the exhaust volume coming out of the wastegate is significant enough to make it worth atmosphere venting? I know atmosphere vented wastegate are pretty loud, so I waste just wondering if there is any benefit to routing it back to the downpipe?

Can you hear the whistle of the turbo better with it recirculated, kinda like you hear them on a diesel truck? (I have never been in a turbo car before)

I can attest to the sound of the turbo part. I have a atmosphere dump and my brother has recirculate. I think his sounds slot better but the small 3" down pipe like the 3 of us have would definitely benefit from atmosphere. But it sounds ALOT better recirculated.

On a street car, I prefer recirculated. I like the exhaust noise out the back of the car.

I have mine dumping to atmosphere only so i can hear it open. And besides, im usually racing or driving like a mad man when it does open, so at that point, i could care less about how it sounds. PLUS, the cutout is generally open at that point too. lol

You could always leave it dumping open but add a small muffler to the dump pipe so it won't be as loud and you won't be adding more back pressure to your small 3" down pipe.

Mines dumped to atmosphere at the moment but I plan on changing that soon. It was good for a little while but I'm over it.

im gonna dump my 60mm atmospheric and see what it does sound wise. I dont care about performance, my car weighs 2400lbs, lol. I have the room to run it recirc style into my 4'' downpipe, but i think its going to rob from my fun/rediculous factor. A 60mm WG's dump tube dia is larger than 2&1/4" for the record
