Here is a couple of photos that show the factory LSX deck surface and the solid or dry deck surface. We can run as much or as little water holes as desired for the specific application. This version is being run on a TT street car. Drag only versions allow us to run less or no water holes.
This procedure makes the top 1/2" of the block solid. The benefits are multi fold. The first benefit is to move the water jacket further away from the cylinder. Making it harder to pressurize the cooling system under extreme cylinder pressures. Another benefit is to strengthen the top of the cylinder where most of the power is made. Resulting in better ring seal and ultimately more power. We have seen much better cylinder concentricity after tear down with this in place over the standard deck. This is in applications exceeding 1800-2700 HP
