Default Broke my shortblock, need suggestions

Took out a Porsche 911 turbo the other day. About an hour later, my shortblock let go. Looks like it is a rod or rod bolt, but not postive.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-ra...-my-vette.html

I am taking in suggestions from all over. Friends, the net, and most importantly, my shop. However, before I start on this, I want to hear all suggestions. The end result of the car will not be much higher than what I was at, 672rwhp on the SI trim. The car ran great at 630rwhp(10.5@135), and great at 672rwhp. I just beat on it to hard for too long. Maybe 700-750rwhp, so I will only upgrade to a T-trim. Here are my thoughts so far.

1. I have an LS2 crank that I can get a hold of if my block is fine. I can use that, add forged rods/pistons, etc to it when it is freshened up. Upgrade to a T-trim and keep the boost around 10-12psi. This should keep me at my current power level, and allow me to keep the stock 6 rib system and boost a pump. I can always upgrade to a full fuel stystem in the next year when I am more willing to spend the cash.

2. Go with a stroker crank. Probably a 416, and add forged rods/etc to it. Also upgrading to a T-trim, but now would have to buy a fuel system and couldn't wait. This will add cost with the fuel system right now, and I don't plan on going bigger than 750rwhp.

3. Go with another LS3, brand new from a member who has 2 for sell(for 2500 off) or a used LS3. Just swap out the motors and leave the car with a stock cam. Should be good for 625rwhp, and then build my blown motor over the next 1 year.

Overall costs is what I am considering, even over the next year. Not looking to crack more than 700-750rwhp, so the T-trim will be plenty for me. I might have to get rid of the 6 rib when I start to get over 700, though many run 12-14psi fine on it. We'll just have to see. Any advice would be welcomed! I am leaning towards 1 because of the overall cost and my power goals. It is a street car that goes to the track, but it is a 6 speed. I don't need any more than 750rwhp at the 1/4 with a 6 speed, and I never plan on converting it to an auto. Thanks!

So I'm assuming you were running the stock short block that broke?

Yes, stock ls3 block that broke. Car was being revved to 6700rpm at the track with upgraded valvetrain(patriot dual, dual timing chain, pushrods)

If you like the way it ran, and wanting a little more I'd try to fix what you have with the ls2 crank. Plan b would be by the used ls3 pull it down, and put good pistons, and rods in keep the CR where it is don't lower it. Either combo I'd do a little head cleanup, and little cam. I wouldn't mess with stroking it. JMO

Stock crank with Compstar rods, Diamond pistons and Total Seal rings with a compression ratio of 9.5/1 makes for a really good combo. Bob

^^ I agree. Throw some pistons and rods in it. Have it ready for when you decide to throw some more boost at it and buy your fuel system.

That looks like the plan that I am going to go with

How much HP is that good for? What about a 10.1/1 compression at 750rwhp? How much will the 1/2 point affect the low end around town(while not in boost, or low boost). Can you PM some prices if you stock the items?

Oh no, there goes my secrets. I'm happy with my switch from 408 to 370, 408 had to much torque, never wanted to hook on street. 370 can't really get it to spin but sure pulls hard.

That is kind of what I am thinking. My car is a street car that might see 5-10 passes a year, in full street trim. I was thinking 700-725rwhp should be good for 140mph in the 1/4. I am sticking with the stock ls3 crank and really don't want a tire shreader down low.

My 370 made tons of tq with my blower. Mine made 707rwtq, I was really suprised to see that number because normally you dont see that much.
