Porsche Turbo Vs My Vette
Sorry, did not have the Go-Pro cameras hooked up. They were in the car though, but this wasn't a planned race.
Took out my 2nd Porche 911 Turbo today at 1pm on 610 in Houston. Guy followed me and we had an open stretch of road. Roll from 60, and put about 5 cars on him to 150. No honks, just let him take the hit. Nice guy and gave me the wave. Never know what to expect against those cars.
No custom plates, but it was a silver car, slammed, with exhaust, guages, and black wheels if anybody in Houston knows the car. Young hispanic looking guy with his girlfriend or wife.

135mph traps...550-640wheel depending on car... roughly.

That was before headers and my cam. I was running 10psi with stock exhaust and B&B mufflers through an S Trim with a little meth. I made 2 passes, 10.6@135 and 10.5@136.(1 and done, no cage)
I added headers and a cam and made more power and still at 10psi, but didn't run the car. I am guessing in good air like my other 2 passes, the car should run 137-139mph.
I put the car back on the dyno last week, and lost 1-2psi and I am down on power. Decided to run the car in the hotter air, and it wouldn't go past 133 Friday night.

Here is the kicker to the whole story. I have about 10,000 hard miles on the car. After I raced the Porsche today, the car was fine. I picked up the fiancee, and drove the car to meet the family for mothers day. All was fine on the highway and street. Drove the car easy. Then, while sitting at a stop light, the motor let go. Started to knock and shake hard. Sounded serious, more than valvetrain stuff. So the motor is probably toast. Had my shop open up 30 minutes ago and it is going to get torn down tomorrow to see what is wrong. Ah well, ****!
The motor was on its way out after looking over the dyno again today. The boost did not bleed off till up top, but the car was down on power from 3k up. Exact hp and tq loss all the way through the powerband down lower.

Yes, the car wasn't stock. Had aftermarket gauges, exhaust, slammed, so there is no telling what was done.
Shortblock is toast. Top end, valvetrain, etc look fine. Not sure what I want to do yet.
Here is the power numbers of my car.
Stock LS3 with SI trim and meth. 630/585-10psi
Stock LS3 with SI trim, meth, exhaust and LS9 cam. 672/605-10psi
Last week, same setup before the run at the track and with the porsche. 650/580-9psi. So the motor was hurt before I ran last week at the track and before I ran the Porsche.
1. I have an LS2 crank that I can get a hold of if my block is fine. I can use that, add forged rods/pistons, etc to it when it is freshened up. Upgrade to a T-trim and keep the boost around 10-12psi. This should keep me at my current power level, and allow me to keep the stock 6 rib system and boost a pump. I can always upgrade to a full fuel stystem in the next year.
2. Go with a stroker crank. Probably a 416, and add forged rods/etc to it. Also upgrading to a T-trim, but now would have to buy a fuel system and couldn't wait.
3. Go with another LS3, brand new from a member who has 2 for sell(for 2500 off) or a used LS3. Just swap out the motors and leave the car with a stock cam. Should be good for 625rwhp, and then build my blown motor over the next 1 year.
Overall costs is what I am considering, even over the next year. Not looking to crack more than 700-750rwhp, so the T-trim will be plenty for me. I might have to get rid of the 6 rib when I start to get over 700, though many run 12-14psi fine on it. We'll just have to see. Any advice would be welcomed!
