I don't think that the LSA crank is interchangeable with the LS1 cranks. Could someone verify?
I don't think it's the power as much as the RPM. 800hp at 7500 might be harder on it than 1000 at 6300. If you are running heavy wiseco pistons, and heavy pins, combined with eagle rods there is a ton of weight swinging. That makes that poor cast crank do the Watusi at high RPM. lol

I'd still like a part number on the LS9 crank. The price on the LSA crank isn't bad, but when you have to factor in a flywheel with a custom pattern you may be in the price range of getting something like an eagle piece after shipping, etc...

well for whats its worth, I agree, lol.

I do budget at the moment to make it easier on the wallet as well. I guess my basis for not caring to much for the k1 stuff is when i talked to K1, owned by Wiseco, the guy was quick to talk trash about other manufacturer products.

Coming from the manufacturer stand point, i just feel thats bad business.

HOWEVER, on the other hand, he was VERY VERY knowledgeable and was not afraid to spend an hour on teh phone just shooting the **** and educating me about rotating assemblies and the stresses involved.

I only know one person with k1 stuff and he is probably around 600fwhp and getting ready to spray a 200 or 250 on it. If you hadnt made a decision by then, ill let you know how they take the abuse.

The pan is getting sucked down but that's at lower rpm.6000 rpm, there's over 50 psi. Down around 5k, dips in the mid 30's when its really pulling hard after the hit. I have Mast pan on my list for the rebuild.
As for the high rpm, I normally shift by 7k. Go thru the traps around 7200. I only held it to 7500 because you have to push the lever to shift the new glide and I'm used to pulling it. DOH!

Let me know how it goes with the K1 crank and maybe find out what he paid and where he got it. Thanks guys.

I'm not a big baller like some on here. I gotta go fast on a tight budget. Stock caps, stock bolts, no pins. There were no signs of the caps walking last time I tore it down. It bent a stock crank and ate a #4 main bearing but I caught it before it spun.

Sorry, They are ARP bolts but the regular ones. Like I said, mains didn't move though so it's a non-issue for the last go around anyway. I'll see what I find on this next go round.

Los, how much the eagles go for new? Guy on the bullet is selling a brand new one for $800 + shipping, you could probably talk him down a little:

You can also cryo treat a stock crank to increase it's strength and if deemed neccessary ion nitrade it as well. It costs about $300 to do both. That should help a stock crank quite a bit, I have done that on 1,000 hp builds with success.

As for the LS9 crank, it's 4130, a little less strong than the 4340. Also it's balanced for the Titanium rods so balancing would cost a few hundred more when extra mallory is needed. It also has the 9 bolt pattern, so a flywheel will be needed as well, and the snout is 1" longer and would need to be cut down to LS wet sump standard length = all that adds up.

I'd try and stay away from that one. I have a Eagle crank that looks great that cost 800 dollars but has a crack in it. They don't have the best quality control from what I have seen.

I had an eagle crank in my car for over 5 years with tons of abuse on 300 hp worth of nitrous and the thing still looked brand new when I sold it.

Looked, you mean just by looking at it with the bare eye? Or did you have it thoroughly inspected?
