I bought a LSA crank from GM direct and it is very nice piece. Also bought the automatic caddy flywheel for 35.00 bucks. It is keyed on the balancer side but has NO key for the timing gear. Not sure if this is intentional or slipped through QC. Other than that I'm pleased, cosmeticaly looks cool too from the heat treating they did to it.

How about a stock stroke Callies 5140 forging?? I thought those were like 500-600?? That's what the original AES 390 engine uses (same forging in a slightly longer than factory stroke)........allows those engines to be very well priced!

The 5140 forging callies started as a simple stock replacement IIRC.
So, the 3.622 is the standard crank.
They did start making a ~3.825" stroke 5140 to give the rebuilt engine (trucks etc.) the option for a little more stroke and TQ.....
That's why a 5140 might be a good option especially being a forging and for ~$500.
I was not implying using the 3.825" version, but rather the stock stroke version.........unless those are not available or made anymore.

I seem to remember a while back that they drilled and tapped the flange in the back with the incorrect bolt size. I want to say that they used a nonmetric tap. They blew out those cranks real cheap and included the bolts once they realized that the batch was screwed up. Other than that, I haven't heard anything bad about them.
