Default TC76 + 7lbs Dyno results

Today I was determined to figure out what the hell is going on with my car. Ever since I installed the turbo my afr has had some crazy spikes (misfire). I've played with tightening the plug gap, wires, tuning all sorts other crap. Finally I solved the problem, it was my 125,000 mile coils, swapped my buddies 06 LS2 coils on and picked up over 100 rwhp.

125k stock bottom end LS1
11:1 compression, click my sig for all my N/A results, basically 444 rwhp before turbo.
NGK BR7EF plugs gapped at .022"
Single walbro with 60lb injectors
AlkyControl 15gph nozzle meth kit, 100% meth
KYTP TC76 truck manifold kit
MWC 9" with 3.5 gears and 21lb driveshaft
T56 with Mcleod twin disc RXT clutch (badass)

580 rwhp with 10.x AFR, I wasn't after max power, just wanted to solve my misfire issues. I could have hit 600 I'm sure but figured I should call it a day with my 125,000 mile LS1.

N/A Power vs 7lbs

15.5 Degrees of timing vs 17.5

I didn't think coils went bad. Funny you mention it, my small pickup truck was misfiring at idle and under load. I thought it was the pump going out, or a filter problem. After swapping both, it didn't help. Swapped the coils out and whoala, problem solved. Truck has 105k miles on it.

Go figure.

Awesome power for only 7 psi.

Great result for 7 psi,

might be worth leaning it out up top a little , probably pick up a bit more power and prevent washing the bores.

Forgot to mention this is a KYTP truck manifold setup, Thanks alot Josh!
Drivetrain: MWC 9" with 3.50 gears and 21 lb 1000 hp driveshaft. Also running factory 17" zr1 wheels.

Like I said I wasn't tuning it on the dyno for numbers, mostly diagnosing. If you tune it for the dyno it goes lean on the street. On the street it's right at 11.3-11.5:1 afr. Alot of people say the TC76 chokes at 5500 rpm, maybe it does, but not at this boost level. Last year my setup would pull to 6900 rpm pretty with out dropping much power. This isn't an LS6 cam like everyone runs. Quite the opposite, big split in duration, and tight LSA.

How did the exhaust work out for ya off the old WS6? Not too butchered up from me pulling it off I hope? Had I known of someone else's potential use for it I would have made sure it came off a little bit nicer.

Isn't the dyno you were on a load based dyno? Talked to someone in town with the Mustang dyno and they said they thought those guys had the load based dyno. Pretty strong numbers, anyplans for the track or waiting for a more reliable bottom end?

thats amazing on 7psi you could easily get over 600. i can relate to the coil issue, i had a similar problem but with the plug wires. swapped 3 of them out. BOOM picked up nearly over 150rwhp ROFLCOPTER

Its funny you should say that...my combo is very similar to yours as well as the cam. I have a very large turbine versus the normal and wide split in duration on a 112 LSA...tight by what conventional advice says.

I believe the cam is what is carrying you through to the upper RPM and the Turbo is helping feed it at that RPM. Judging by what you describe your cam would be a decent NA cam and pull real nice to 6500 even without the turbo.

Oddly enough I am using truck manifolds as well in a slightly different platform - '69 Olds 442.

Congrats on your numbers man...go enjoy it!!!

Thanks for the comments guys, I will be at the track next outing which is June 10. I really need to buy some new coils though, I'm borrowing my buddies LS2 coils at the moment and they are ghetto rigged on with 1 bolt lol. Thanks alot for the exhaust Andrew, I used a few sections of it and it made the job much easier! Shelly's dyno is a standard non load based dynojet. On the street I can be on the wastegate around 2500 rpm in 4th gear, so it still spools pretty good on the dyno. I'm not too worried about the stock bottom end blowing, but don't want to be wasting it's life on the dyno. I've seen 12lbs in 4th gear so I know it's ok around this boost lol.

One of my favorite mods right here, 4" dmh electric cutout, kinda kicking myself because I forgot to see how much power it lost though the slp dual dual. I also wanted to pull the air filter and see if it helped but I always run an air filter so no biggie.

Yes and mine only has the .96 A/R on it, I read quite a few people say it choked around 5500 rpm. That's why I kept bugging you about your dyno graph, I was surpised it pulled so high. Than I dyno'd mine and it made power higher than I wanted to lol.

As the boost goes up the sooner it will choke. My 212 cam Tc76 pulls well past 6k on 8psi but at 15psi things lay over at 5500. That high cr low boost is the way to do it if you want it to rev with that turbo.
