30+ lbs of boost run a vacuum pump or not? I have both set ups. What's the best for the motor? 8000-8500 rpm wet sump.

You definitely need a vacuum pump.

Thanks Phil! I started putting it back together this afternoon. I need to find my notes from the last time we talked over the winter. I can't wait to get it out!

If you're going to use the vacuum pump lock down the pressure regulator on the pump and regulate it at the valve cover.

As it is now, if you get any oil in the separator it could still pull say, 10in vacuum between the pump and the separator but have 10psi pressure between the separator and engine.

Regulate it at the engine and you won't have that problem.

Why are you guys saying that a vac pump is required? You blowing oil out of the motor?

No. But I'm going to turn up the wick and I have both set ups. Catch can is easy but if it helps the motor I'll put the vacuum pump back on. Some have said it's no big deal others say a vac pump is a must!

I have heard David(mighty mouse) speak of making the breather set-ups work with a lot of boost. I haven't read much into this, does this only occur at high boost levels, or any and all just to a lesser degree?

What I was thinking about doing(stop me if its a bad idea) but I have a catch can running to both valve covers and I was going to run a hose from the filter on the turbo to the port on the valley cover(since it has an oil separator) That way it will act like a vacuum pump when in boost..and any excess will go to the ccan.
