Default Belt issues

Anyone with the TTi street kit or Qmp single turbo have problems with there belt sliping and making noise. Both my main drive belt and A/C belt have been replaced but as soon as it rains the damn things start making noise again Any ideas on how to fix this.

I can't imagine why. Perhaps your tensioner is going away. I've heard they are weak, but I've never had any problems. Quite honestly, I thought this was another "ATI Belt Slip" thread at which to muse. This was a real surprise!

I`ve replaced all the belts and all the pullys and it still squeaks and squeals (SP), I`m also confused. Does anyone make an adjustable (screw type) tensioner as a direct replacement for our cars instead of the spring type?

Katech makes one (other vendors carry it...Thunder, LG, etc.). Mine used to squeak all the time when wet (still do sometomes), but only below 1000 rpm. Don't know if its the tensioner, but WD40 helped

dont know if the katech will fit your spot under the alternator, but i got a sweet 'high lip' metal tensioner pulley from thunder racing that cured my belt popping off and noise problem.. as said there is a problem with the stock tensioner reguardless.

Damn that was you? you looked a little pissed that they wouldn`t let you return the blades. I would have been to it was kinda stupid they wouldn`t take them, those stupid metal pieces fall out if you shake the box wrong. Did you ever get them to take them back?
I`d like to check out your 67 sometime if you live in the area.

I've been looking at the QMP and TTi brackets. I've ordered the QMP and hope to see it today. In both cases, it appears that belt tension is limited because of the proximity of the alternator pulley to the the tensioner. That is compounded by limited clearance of the belt between the crank pulley and the tensioner because of the water pump hose fitting. I'm going to investigate more because I think you could purchase an additional 3" idler pulley (the one to the right of the crank pulley) and install it using a spacer and longer bolt at the bottom of the tensioner. That would allow you to get more tension and contact from the tensioner and move the belt away from the WP hose fitting. Whatca think?

That would work good except My kit don`t have the idler pulley between the crank and PS pump, but you have the right idea. The whole problem is becase the crank pulley is trying to turn all these accessories and theres only about 7-8in of belt touching the crank pulley, it needs more wrap.

Yes, I've seen the straight shot from crank to PS. If the belt can cross this
area without mishap why can't the original bracket be used without the alternator or a slightly modified bracket to clear turbo related pieces? In my case, the alternator interfered with the PS box so it had to move. I have retained the original bracket and idler pulley without the interference problems but it is a close fit to the PS box.
