Even better would be to fill a 5 gallon jug up with 110 or 114 and everytime you fill up add a gallon to the tank.

Same price as a bottle of that **** too. Torco would be about the only additive I would use.

Could always hit up a Home Depot/Lowes/Sherwin Williams and pick up a few gallons of methanol and add it to each tankful.

Thanks for everyones advice on the set up. Here is the dyno graph. This evening I set my shift light to 5600rpm as a temporary countermeasure to the slightly above safe boost. Look at the graph and let me know if you guys have any other thoughts. Even shifting at 5600 I am not loosing too much torque/hp and it looks to be right at about 8lbs of boost.

Hmm, you can't get methanol from paint supply etc? I guess I'm out of the loop working in a lab.

If you can I'd love to know, but if it has any type of coloring, lubricant or sealing properties to it then it will kill the seals in the pump for the resevoir. I just order mine from World Wide Race Fuels the non blue stuff, mine is clear, just M1 Methanol.

I am not doubting your intelligence, but I don't think you can use the type you are speaking of, unless it windshield washer fluid that they have...and even then methyl blue really isn't the best thing to use.

I was just thinking that the paint supply stores and big box stores carried methanol like they do ketones, acetone, etc. Like I said, I'm a chemist, so I'm used to having access to every grade of chemical under the sun.

Thanks Rob! Mine is just a bolt on car nothing like your build. I do think I will get a larger pulley and slow the blower down. I need to ask Steve if I would need a retune right away for that or is it something that we can do and not need to retune right away. I talked to Nate I might try to make it over to Ft. Wayne when you guys are tuning to hang out.

How did you like IPS? Im planning on taking my car there at the end of summer when i finish my turbo build.

You are also doing a great thing by shifting early to keep the motor alive. Leave it at 10lbs, its RPM and excessive heat that will kill your motor. I would also add a meth kit to combat the heat generated when you are really getting on it. With meth and shifting early, that motor should be fine for a long time.

Its also pretty common to generate more boost on the street than compared to the dyno, so dont worry too much about that.

im also running a d1sc. iv seen about 8/9 psi. I ran it on the stock block for 3 years no problems. car made 641hp/598tq. it did finally crack ring landings but i bet i got at least40 passes before then. i strongly recommend meth and a decent fuel system

I am making 10# of boost with the D1SC on my 2002 Z28. My 8 rib crank pulley is their standard 7.65" and my head unit pulley is 4.50". Completely stock motor with BBK TB, FLP longtubes, Y-pipe and Magnaflow. 4.5" intercoolers. No meth. 16* of timing and 11.3-11.5 AFR. Tuned in the heat of last summer (97* ambient in the shop). Car no longer goes to the track and I rarely pull to redline (still only 6200 given the stock valvetrain). It has seen numerous dyno pulls to get the tune locked in and it has seen some highway bombs, but I do not routinely beat on it. I was making 479 RWHP on 8# and then swapped out the original 6 rib pullies for an 8 rib setup and gained an unexpected 2 psi. It brought the power up to 546/506 on a loaded (Dynapack) dyno. The added boost dictated an upgrade to 60# injectors and Walbro in tank with original BAP still in-line.

I am a little concerned about longevity, but the car is a weekend toy and I definitely won't be running to redline in each gear in the heat of a Texas summer, and so far it has held together just fine. We tuned it in summer to have no KR, so it should have a margin of safety when run in cooler weather.

Ya meth is in the plans for sure in a couple of months. I will take it easy on the car until I get that system completed.

Great numbers. That is my strategy too for now, basically dont beat on it like its a rental.
