budget and turbo do not go into the same sentence lol, but I can steer you in the right direction. Read the stickies first very good info. Second if you wanna do it for 3500-4000 I would run the stock long block for now and just get some ls6 valve springs or a comp 918 type spring to hold the psi. If you look in the for sale section you can find great deals on stuff which will save a few bucks. I am doing a turbo build on my car and with the kit alone I will have close to 8-9k Its true when ever one says budget alittle more then what you think youll need.

4000$ is a good start for a forged shortblock but plan on spending another 10k on doing a complete running and driving forced induction car
then after that you will break your rear-end/driveshaft, transmission
and will need to upgrade your suspension/tires if you want to do anything but roast tires and also brakes so you can stop
i have 20k in my car(not just fi but everything) and that is without a forged bottom end and doing everything on a budget without using complete crap parts and doing all the work myself
if you plan on going the fi route you need to sit down and realize its not a simple upgrade and its going to cost a lot of money

For a budget turbo setup, I highly reccomend you look at a junkyard 5.3 motor. The 5.3s are handling lots of boost in stock form and cost anywhere from 250-1000 for a complete motor. Combine 5.3 motor with a DIY turbo kit using truck manifolds and you can make big power for cheap. This is the route im going.

Why do you want to build headers when you can buy truck manifolds for dirt cheap and they support 1000rwhp??

You should forget about the turbo kit thing for a while and pay attention in high school so you can learn grammar and spelling.

masterpower no longer supports the US market so you will have to find one used.

OR... try our T70 replacement from magnum the MG T70

sell the ls1, grab a low mile lq4 (or lq9 if ya can find one cheap), grab headstuds, new rod bolts, valve springs, a couple truck manifolds, a 62+mm turbo, some 60lb injectors, wideband. Tune it and have some fun and still have enough cash for some hookers

No doubt about the $$$$. I have over 30k in mine, and STILL have some things left that I'd like to change out/upgrade. If you're building for reliability, you're going to spend $$$. If you don't care about blowing stuff up, then go "budget", and plan on working on the car all the time. I prefer to drive mine, rather than work on it all the time.
