GMHTP - Standing Mile build (88mm, 370... 200+mph)
Hey Tech,
Just wanted to share some updated shots of GM High Tech Performance magazine's newest Standing Mile turbo project. If you're a regular reader of GMHTP, you've probably already seen SALT a couple of times in recent issues but for everyone else, feel free to check the project out online or in our most recent issue.
We've teamed up with Turbonetics, Vibrant Performance, Race Part Solutions, Edelbrock and the awesome fabricators at Vengeance Racing to put SALT together and, although we have a long way to go until we're out on the runways with our friends, we're finally making some progress!
Specs:
Turbonetics Y2K 88mm turbocharger
Turbonetics air-to-liquid intercooler
Turbonetics Godzilla blow off valve and NewGen HP wastegate
Vibrant Performance aluminum and stainless tubing, VanJen clamping system
Truck manifolds, 2.5-inch crossover piping, 5-inch downpipe, 3.5-inch cold side
Full UMI suspension, AFCO coilovers
Much more to come!
Want to find out more? Check out the site or pick up the newest copy of GMHTP which is out on newsstands RIGHT NOW! And, before anyone says it, we are aware of the potential issues with the 5-inch DP through the hood and on one side (pushing, downforce, etc) but we've got a plan for that already, so we'll just have to see how that goes.
Anyway, let us know what you think and, if you have any questions about anything in the articles, feel free to post up here or PM me!
Turbocharging 101: Basic Turbocharging Components & Theory
Turbocharging 102: The Hot Side
Turbocharging 103: The Cold Side - ON SALE NOW!
Let us know what you think,
Justin

I'd imagine when car guys that work for a car magazine do a "car build" it is for the same reasons and goals you would build one...
go fast
look cool doing it
have something fun to work on and talk about
200+ mph in the mile is always a good starting goal... this build should be able to accomplish that

thats why I asked, with those sponsors and hardware the 200mph mark shouldnt be a very difficult goal. Imagine if this was your build Mark, and you told me the goal was 200mph, my first thought would be "is that it!?"

reguardless I think this will be an awesome build, and I'd be after they breeze past 200 in the mile, new goals will come to light.
