Drove the car around a bit today, just to see how it was doing after all of the 1/4 mile hammer passes yesterday. It seems to have quite a bit of blow-by through the valve covers now, though it seems to run just the same. I noted that vacuum at idle is now 13-14 vs the 18-20 it used to idle at. Oil pressure is still perfect. And I also noticed that the 28x10x15 slicks were apparently rubbing pretty badly yesterday, based on the groove in the tires, and the mounds of melted rubber on the fender lip. (that would explain some of the tire smoke at the end of the track in the video)

Either way, I think we've given it just about all it can take. I think it's time to say goodbye to the stock 125,000 mile motor, and slide the turbo-prepped forged motor in, along with the 12-Bolt.

It'll probably be another 2-3 weeks before all of the work is completed. I'm not sure if we'll even start it up with LS1Edit, or go straight to installing the Gen7. At the same time, we'll do some minor "track prepping"...i.e. move the battery to the back, remove the front sway bar (for track only), add a BMR TQ Arm, set the pinion angle, do some minor rear fender trimming to accomodate the new 28x10.5W slicks and 15x10 rear wheels, some new ProStop brake rotors and new pads (I thought I was going off-roading with the car yesterday at the end of the track!), and a couple of "other" small changes.

It sucks the car didn't run a 10 yesterday, but 136mph! After 150 dyno pulls, countless joy rides given at the shop, 6,000 miles worth of turbo powered everday street driving, and probably over 100 street hammer passes, what more can you expect?

Ouch, that hurt! And yes, I definitely feel like I'm getting old. It's 4pm here too. And yes, It was actually lunch, but my parents have called it "Sunday Dinner" for as long as I can remember....so on Sunday, "Dinner" is at 2pm. "Supper" will be around 7pm this evening...in case you were wondering. right after I take my nap....

That is awesome mph congrats!

Too bad the 12 bolt/good DS wasn't in the car for the runs!

What mph are you going for with the forged motor? mid 140's?

Nice runs Rob. I did all I could do to get 11s on my turd. It says alot about your kit that you were trapping so high. Don't blow up the motor.....you definitely made a point...no need to throw money away with a blown block and who knows what else. Oil could spew under one tire....slide......you get the picture. No need to jeopardize your safety...let alone the money you might be wasting. Great job...slide the turbo motor in and show off

You're getting back to that which is important... I'm glad for you, brother.

Wasting my wind is never enjoyable, so I'm glad it isn't wasted with you.

My sincerest congratulations on the newest milestone... and the record with the car, too.

Your friend,

SC-

Hey Rob it was good seeing you again. Congrats again on the MPH. Gotta love the turbo. Steve and I were talking about your burnout or lack there of and the launch. You should have just drove around the water. The guys we were standing next to thought it was a V6. Until the boost kicked in and the car started skating around the track. They about **** when 13+ mph came up on the board.
Still can't believe how bad that track was. Like I told you. I raced there one time and that was enough for me. They just don't give to ***** about the track or safety of the drivers in the fast cars. I have never seen so many cars having to pedal or get out of it after half track. Just un called for. Real surprised none hit the wall. They make a killing there. I know they can afford some VHT. I will never run my car there again, unless thay make some changes.
Hope to see you at Norwalk.

Thanks again for letting my buddy use your wrenches.

Not a problem Mike. And I couldn't agree more about the track conditions. I just didn't want to make too big of a deal about it, or else people would see it as me making excuses. Know what I mean?

Is there an event at Norwalk soon?

I just ran accross this on the LPE Site:

2000 Lingenfelter Stage II 650+ Twin Turbo Corvette

670 RWHP

11.2 @ 136.75 MPH
White exterior
Black interior
Six speed transmission
Ready to move at just
$85,000.00

------------------------------------

I just thought it was a pretty good comparison to what the Formula ran. Et and MPH are almost identical. And our higher rwhp would account for the difference in weight and aerodynamics of the C5.

Oh yea...and the Formula didn't cost anywhere near $85,000.

PSJ, Harlan, what do you guys think?? You two have been awfully quiet....

Rob, is your new motor going to be stock cubes? I think PSJ and Harlan are running inthe exreme stock class which you have to be under 360 ci to be in.

I would like to have went as well but the boss said I had to work so I was at the shop till 3:30pm Saturday.

Congrats Rob! Nice MPH!

As far as track prep, Ive been to edgewater dozens of times and the only days that they have good track prep is when their bracket program is running. Then, they have decent track prep.

But for all the ricers that show up on the normal test n tune sessions, there is nothing.

Keep us posted!
