I'm sure that a lot of mph was lost in the off-idle "launch", and granny shifts.

I know...Mike told me! I personally can't wait to see it. I won't even try to compete with the other project.....it's outta my league. I have to get the Formula out of the 11's before I can even think about running 8's!

136mph looks pretty promising, I did read the thread through a few times. It's hard to say what the car would have done with an aggressive launch and harder shifting I would like to see that but if you were trying to keep stock components alive I can see that.

Finally! PSJ noticed me!! Yes, I was definitely trying to keep stock components alive, just as I had said I was going to do.....idle launch, easy shifts, etc. It already did a lot more than some thought it would...namely made it down the track with all stock parts!
So what is the record for fastest (mph, not ET) stock LS1 F-Body?
What kind of mph are you expecting to see with your car first time to the track? Also, what was the weight of your car again? Just to compare.
And lastly, when and where are you going to run it? Maybe we can meet up.....I should be about done with the new setup by the end of next week I hope.

Stock longblock MPH record is probably low 130 or so with a nitrous car but I'm not sure. Dave Purlee from IL once went 10.5 with a stock longblock a number of years ago but I don't recall the MPH.
I hope to be 3400 raceweight, but I might actually be more around 3500 we'll have to see. I hope to go 142 or better to beat your record in the Camaro.

Nice mph Rob. Shhhhh.. let's not disuss those ET's.
I have no idea if that's some sort of stock f-body mph record though.
I think comparing a m6 to an a4 or especially any th400/loose stall car will always show the m6 to trap much higher mph.
Heck when my car was bone stock in 98 it trapped 101mph. Buddys M6 trapped 107-108 same day bone stock.
I trapped 125MPH at near 3700lbs with 2.73 gears/a4, stock 98 cam/stock 98 ls1 heads,G-trim, lifting the heads/on/off/on the throttle at slippery dirty GLD.
Heck that must be some sort of record?
I'll bet your 136mph would be near 129-130 with a4,2.73 gears don't you think?
So I guess you still got me
But trap speed and dynos don't win races.
I plan on running 130+ and low 10's with the little step child of a blower G-trim. Not with 2.73's though.
No 9 sec car for me. But might be enough to make PSJ nervous if he can't hookup.
John, post when your going to run your car. I'd like to come check it out.

Yea, I think it's pretty obvious that if I was building a racecar, it wouldn't have AC, PS, Stereo, sway bars, full interior, a 6 speed, and weigh over 3700lbs.
Personally, I was only concerned with mph Saturday. And I was more than happy with the results. It may not have laid down a low ET at the track, but you wouldn't believe the power it has on the street. FWIW, almost too much power for the street.
Don't forget one other thing...I still have stock 3.42 gears in the car, but I was running a 28" tall tire. Making it more like a 2.73 gear by comparison. Looking back at it, I really was running the car against all odds Saturday.

Rob was seriously babying that car out of the hole, it looked like a stock civic for the first 20 feet than BOOM it was screaming, the reaction in the crowd and on peoples faces was priceless. I can't believe how quiet the car is either. Very sweet car.

Trust me it takes some oats to pull these freeway gears. Of course you have the power and then some! No argument there. I was just pointing out it's difficult to compare trap MPH between differently equipped cars as a way of Illustrating the engines power.
Chris, 9" and spool.
