That's exactly what I was thinking, keeping it together thru the 1/8th is a lot easier than the full 1/4. My car went slow thru the 1/8th on my 8.9 pass since I was footbraking it, but pulls great out the back door(light and power) making it go 154.7mph.

With the transbrake I've been 5.90 on the brakes at a whopping 98mph down 125rwhp(was on my middle boost setting) On my 8.9 pass on the footbrake it went 5.80 at 122mph for comparision.

I think someones been faster than 5.80 in the 1/8th before also, just couldn't keep it together for full 1/4 passes which is why I have the stock shortblock record taking from Anthony who took it from Parish, all 1/4 mile times.

No one will ever give a 4x4 truck credit at altitude but I've been 129.59 mph at a true 4975lbs with a stock long block 6.0L @5860' elevation pulling 4x4 running gear, with no launch.... This is with a 6.0L, Isky 212 cam, and Garrett GT76mm turbo @16psi. I got banned from all the tracks in Co with this one no launch mph pass, and didn't get to see what it would do with a launch, and 18psi, but it was nasty. If you figure the raw power numbers shown here not taking into account the 8500' DA, and drag of the truck the power is pretty stout for what it is.

I think some people don't give the 1/8th mile any credit. I certainly would prefer to run a 1/4 any day of the week, but I have what I have at my disposal very close to my house and it just happens to be an 1/8th mile track. It's a nice 1/8th mile track don't get me wrong, with good track prep, but it's still only 660 feet long.

Congrats but that's only half the track. I've NEVER hurt a motor before the 1,000 mark.

All the fun is over by the 1/8. The other 1/8th is just endurance.

You have a ton of gear in that thing.....is it even working the turbo or are the gears doing all the work? With that much gear....I doubt you would make it a full 1/4 before running out of gear.

thanks man. its unbelievable the results capable with the writeoff 4.8 that nobody wants.

to run 6.04 at 115 means it is making abt 775 hp at 15psi which means it is making close to 400 flywheel hp Naturally aspirated. thats incredibly stout for 293 cubic inches

wtf u talkin bout?
i <3s me the 4.8s. my dd truck has 335k miles on stock 4.8.
and yes that hp your motor is making
is stout. and not only that, the 4.8s have a different note than all the other oe ls engines imo. sounds alot more robotic.
also i selected a 4.8 for hi psig for my build.

Yea the big "hold on for dear life" is over by the first 330' but you are right most motors let go around the 1,000 ft. mark. I guess it's the load the 1:1 gear put's on the motor when your putting out the kinda power we are....well you are lol

It's been awhile, but I'm pretty sure a fox went faster in the 1/8th than I did.

Hey do you have any build up pictures? I am flat out "in love" with this build... I was gunna do a 5.3 for my jet boat build, but the sound of a 4.8 screaming at 6000+ rpms is very enticing. I might just sell the 5.3 I got, and grab a few 4.8s haha.

I wound up buying a "family" style boat last weekend for the fourth, so me and my buddies could go out on lewisville... It's a turd, it's an 82 18ft wellcraft with the inline 4. Great gas mileage, but who cares lol. It's solid, so Im gunna "flip" it and make a dollar or two and then it's back to searching for my jet boat hull.

i have very few because I found that when im in the trenches doing fab work, its difficult to pull out the camera and make photo notes, though I now kinda regret not doing that. there are questions that photos can answer when you go back and look at them.

here is what the setup basically looks like. I got the idea from bOOsted
