Default Boosting lsx376

In the next few months i am going to get the rest of the parts to boost my lsx376 crate motor. If you don't know the specs on a lsx376 it is basically ls3 cam with ls3 heads and a ls3 intake, i have 2" stainless headers on it too. i have a d1sc procharger with a 3 core intercooler for my setup already, i just need injectors, pin crank, and a new bracket. here is a pic of my current setup.

My question is how much boost can i run on pump gas with 9 to 1 compression?
What size injectors? i have a 340lph pump in tank already with pro charger inline pump.

The rods in that are weak, I would watch out.

A guy on CF makes nearly 900hp with that motor, he claims. However, it is on race gas.

Engine bay looks really good.

when the rods do break, you can always post on every gm auto forum out there and start a law suit with GM....

IMO i'd just replace the rods.

Get some meth for safety and see what it can make. You'll always have someone saying something. Just be conservative and turn the wick slowly!! I thought about going with that block before going with my AES 390 block.. Nice engine!!

This setup is a Ls3 in a LSX block. Its the whole package, crank, rods and topend. I spoke with Mike Thomson (I believe his name was) from Thomson Automotive (TA Racing engines) on last years power tour. He was driving a chevelle with a lsx block 454 with a ls9 top end.

I ask him specifically about this motor. He told me to stay away from some serious boost on it. Just like any OE engine it will take 8 psi with no problems. I was looking into the 14-16 psi range.

Engine type: LSX Series Gen IV small-block V-8
Displacement (cu in): 376 (6.2L)
Bore x Stroke (in): 4.06 x 3.62 (103.25 x 92 mm)
Block (P/N 19243171): LSX cast-iron with 6-bolt cross-bolted main caps
Crankshaft (P/N 12597569): Nodular iron
Connecting Rods (P/N 12607475): Powdered metal
Pistons (P/N 12166957): Forged aluminum
Camshaft Type (P/N 12603844): Hydraulic roller
Valve Lift (in): 0.551" intake / 0.522" exhaust
Camshaft Duration (@0.050 in): 204° intake / 211° exhaust
Cylinder Heads (P/N 12615879): Aluminum L92 style port; "as cast" with 68cc chambers
Valve Size (in): 2.16 intake / 1.59 exhaust
Compression ratio: 10.7:1
Rocker Arms (P/N 12569167 int): Investment-cast, roll trunnion
Rocker Arms (P/N 10214664 exh): Investment-cast, roll trunnion
Rocker Arm Ratio: 1.7:1
Recommended Fuel: 92 octane
Maximum Recommended RPM: 6600
Reluctor Wheel: 58X
Balanced: Internal

How weak are the rods? The rest of the motor looks pretty stout. I wonder why GM would put such weak rods in a motor like this.

Are those rods different than the LS2/Lq9? I can't imagen they would use a lighter duity rod in that engine than production trucks.

I think they are the same. Stock powdered metal sounds pretty wimpy, but I've seen these rods on some pretty stout builds. I just wondered if anyone has any actual data that would quantify how good (or bad) these rods actually are.

There is a guy on yellowbullet (Frank02L) that went 5.72@126 at 3280lbs with a stock 2005 6.0L bottom end......2005 and up motors should be the same rods as the LSX376.

The LS2 style rods are pretty tough if you don't get greedy with the timing. I've been over 130mph 1/4 mi in my 4875 lb 4x4 truck with a 05 lq4 as well. At 126mph a set of the early 6.0 rods bent and broke on me. The ls2 rod isn't the optimum rod for big power, but their a lot stronger than credit given...

I wouldn't chance it unless you mix a little e85 in there or something. Also need a good AFR gauge and keep your eye on it.
