Default speed inc alt bracket, belt walking off crank

I have a speed inc alt bracket and a cs130 alt from advanced auto. The belt is walking off the crank. Stock crank pulley never even been removed. I clearanced the back of the alt to make sure the head wasn't pushing it out. I even sanded off the powder coat on the back of the relocation bracket to make sure it was in as far as possible. I am stumped please give any ideas!! Thanks.

If you are still running PS I would look at how the belt tracks coming off the PS pump to the crank pulley.

Is this the only thing you changed?
Have you ever removed the PS pulley?

Power steering is all original. It only comes off at high rpm. Thanks for the input!

Think I found the problem, alt pulley on a factory alt has a diffrent spacing. Factory ls pulley must be used.

I didn't change my pulley when I went to the Speed Inc set up and a mid 90's truck alternator.

Didn't fix the problem. I am going to call speed inc. To see if they can help. I have bought all the belts in town, 4 of them at 25$ a POP is getting old. Any input would be helpful.

Mine pulled towards the inside with a belt on it when I started it by about .5-.75" and it was loose when I grabbed it and wiggled it.

I'm not using mine. You need to start the car and watch where it is coming off at. This will be where you misalignment is.

Mine did the same thing until I shimmed it out. Put a long level(or any long straight piece of metal that you have) either on the face of the alternator pulley or the face of the balancer and measure the distance from the level to the first grove in both pullies(or 2nd i my case the first grove on the alternator pully was too far out to use). I would have to shorten the supplied shims to use the front groove on the pully but then you have even more of an issue with the alternator being too close to the head. I already had to grind the back of the alternator case, so I didn't want to go that route. I stacked feeler gauges to do the measurement, helps to have a friend hold the level while you measure or use a clamp to clamp it on.

I ended up stacking two thin washers (about .080) behind each the supplied spacers for the alternator to get mine lined up correctly. I use a 5 groove belt and don't use the front grove on the alternator pulley. That was how I got mine to line up...but I have an ATI balancer, elelbrock water pump and no other accessories so my setup is completely different than yours. Once I did that the belt stayed on perfect.

It comes off going from p/s to crank. I noticed the p/s pulley moves in and out 1/8 inch or so. Seems normal? I have the black powder coated version and I have seen other posts with people having problems. I will called speed inc tomorrow

Well the modular turbo alt bracket solved my problem! I found that my power steering pulley was not press on all the way.
