Precision 76GTS pictures with stock radiator
I had a few people asking to see pictures of my turbo setup. This is an older KYTP truck manifold kit designed with the TC76. I will say you need about .300" clearance around you TC76 on the compressor housing if you want to fit a 76GTS. As you can tell mine barely fit, I have about .020" gap between my idler pulley. The turbine housing is the same size, both are a .96 a/r.
If you look close I have a filter after my catch can, it catches all the remaining junk.
2-3" of clearance from the radiator, could rotate the kit forward with another vband on the cross over to fit a larger turbo.
2 Derale 2200 cfm pusher fans, work awesome have never been over 206 degrees, usually around 196.
Methanol pump hidden away
Push to connect fittings, I like these alot
Intercooler mount also tucked away
My bling alternator bracket I still haven't installed

Looks good man! Didn't realize you had the stock radiator setup in there when you did this. Throw it back on the dyno to see how much the numbers/curve changed with the new turbo?
Also, still need some stock rear springs? Found one in my box of random stuff, been procrastinating on cleaning the garage to find the other. Let me know.

I will throw it back on the dyno after I get the rest of the little issues worked out. I think my fast is leaking and I need some new valve springs. Also I'm waiting for my precision 46mm wastegate, the 38mm turbosmart will not control the 76gts. I'm still wanting to throw a different set of rear springs in, so if you find them let me know
I think on a bone stock engine LS1 or 5.3 the TC76 would work much better. My car made 444 rwhp before I put the turbo on, ported fast 85, 11:1 valve job 243s, 224/23x .61x cam with a lot of overlap. I think the TC76 had a bit of back pressure even at only 7lbs. The 76gts spools up just as fast and hits much harder even at the same boost. I've ran the same mph in the 1/8 with 3 degrees less timing, 4400 DA and having my exhaust cutout closed. With the cutout open and even less timing I gained 4 mph. This turbo makes quite a bit more noise and is a beast compared to the TC76.

I would still say the 76GTS would outperform that turbo, spool faster and pull just as high in the RPM range.
I love my GTS and with my new 3800 converter and 3.55's my car has become an animal from a roll. It will break the tires loose all the way thru 3rd gear now like it's sitting still.
Are you still running the same cam as you were N/A?

It will be the same deal. I just switched to a T78/1.15 vs a TC76/.96 and gained nothing except for a little more power in the 10~12psi range but chokes at 14~15psi vs the TC76 at 16. The anemic 68mm exh wheel is the cork. Couldn't ask for a better dd turbo though..

It's the same cam, I really want to swap it out for something different but I want to see how it works for now. It's the furthest thing I've seen from a turbo cam, big split, tight lobe seperation and 10 degrees of overlap @ .050. I have a 3" down pipe for right now with the stock k-member really about all you can fit with poly motor mounts, but if you run the sphon solid you can run a 4" downpipe on the passenger side.
Here is one of my favorite mods, 4" dmh electric cutout. With it closed my car just sounds like a quiet cammed ls1 with the slp dual dual exhaust (my fav). With it open it sounds like an airplane cruising around hah

I think the TC76-78 is better for a stock engine that is less efficient, turbo cam or not. It's all about mass flow going through the turbo. The TC76 ran pretty hard on my setup, 580rwhp on 7lbs is flowing some air. The 76GTS is all around a better turbo, no surpise, it cost quite a bit more too.
Chris, I don't know what you mean but the 76GTS is pretty much a direct replacement for the TC76. If you have .300" clearance around your tc76 than this turbo will fit. Only difference is it uses a 3" slip discharge vs the 2.5" the TC uses. No big deal since most intercooler piping is 3" anyways, just get a new coupler.
