Default what size turbo's on LPE's TT427 package?

Thinking of doing a new setup on my old 71 rs-z.
(I have lots of leftover TT parts)
They must be bigger then the their 'incon type' setup designed for 346ci.

A friend of mine has a 71 RS with a 427 SBC running twin 76's..he's pushing 1450 to the rear wheels and running 8.1 at 171. he ran the same turbos on a 350 and was only 2 tenths slower. Of course thats spending 10k at kooks for plumbing and headers, Gen 7 and everything else. Hes selling his shortblock w. sheeetmetal intake for 10k if that puts dollar values into focus. I imagine its 30 k or better to get close. I could be in the 20's by the time my LS1 is charged. Size wise, to answer your question, twin 60-1's are a nice fit at minimim I'd say....but 76's would be a better choice if you can handle the power. Are you gonna use a Lenko or Liberty Trans, or traditional T-400? Were also doing a 382 w/ 60-1's and thats not considered "all out". My personal 409 will have 76 turbines and 56 compressors and will make power from 3k to 6750. Though the turbos willsupport over 1000 hp, i will not be going/getting to close to that likely. Im aiming in the 700+ range.
sorry for the "mix and match" statements here.

wow that car 427 TT'ed would look soo hotttt

how much does it weigh?

The level of power u want and the type of power band u desire is important when trying to choose turbo's... u dont always HAVE to go huge to make big numbers, just gotta think everything out

I’m not looking for 1400hp. 1/2 that would be fine on the street.
It’s a 427 bb now, That car needs a 427 ls1. I need the huge thoroughly sound. Its very heavy, but handles very, very good. It has a full road race syp. and yok. 032r road race tires, 275's and 315's. An alum. motor would help that so much.
I have 2 extra t3/t4's and 2 extra gt2835's but I don’t think they can push enough air for a 427. Could put them in line and do quad, plenty of room.
I thing I should sell them and do a big single.

where would you place the big single if u decided to go that route? watching my friend try to change plugs on his SS, i couldn't imagine there being room for a big single somewhere udner the hood, unless its like towards the front of the car near/udner the lid?

i saw a vid once of an LT1 that had the turbo all the way back by the rear end... all that piping must cause some lag tho..

big single

The only problem with a single is that on a big inch motor like a 427, a regular T4 exhaust housing is going to cause a lot of backpressure. I would run, AT THE LEAST, a small frame PT88 on a 427 like that, for a single. IMHO, twins are a lot easier to do because you can fit each turbo on each side of the bay instead of finding a big honking space for a T88 somewhere, and it's easier to fit in dual 3" or 3.5" downpipes vs. one mammoth 5"-er. If I were in your position, I would run a pair of precision PT61's, with .81 or .96 tangential housings.

It would have to be a lot larger than two gt30 they don't flow as much as the Incon f-body turbos.

The LPE TT427 turbo's should be larger then the gt35's and gt37's that come with the incon kits.
But still has to fit in very small spaces under the vett.

I know somebody who owns a shop with an LPE 427 that makes 700rwhp and they told me those were the size turbos. Made 12-13lbs of boost on 8.5:1 Compression Motor.

Could be, if the t76 do 1450hp, 700's a drop in the bucket.

If it’s true, I could already have my setup, setup. These aren’t BB turbo's but might work ok.

Thanks for the info, looks like I have a project for next year after the 02 TTSSZ project; witch looks like it might have light at the end of the tunnel.

When you buy a turbo from Garrett you only get the CHRA. In the GT30 line they have comps that put out 55 to 66 lbs/hour. This is plenty of flow for 1200+ HP.

LPE does not use an off-the-shelf GT30, but similar
