Question Air to Air again or A to Water?

Well I am pretty sure that I messed up my FMIC while trying to load the car on a ill trailer on Thursday night. Car is a 370 TC78 (going to a 7675CEA Precesion) th400 RMVB with a brake and a MWC rear. I do drive it on the street but it is just for a cruise nothing more.

So what is a better option? Dash mount Air to Water or just a good quality air to air kit?

Looking for consistent mid 9's out of the car.

Air to Water will always win in a drag car world just for the fact you can control the intake air temps better and not to mention make intake air temps below ambient air temps.

Did your AtA do a good job? Mid 9's absolute quickest it will ever run? I've used both. AtW is killer under 9 sec but a lot of work with ice, etc.

AtA if I only ran mid 9's...simple and no work.

Well this is what I found when I got under the car today to inspect the damage.

On a good note I got a 1.57 60' and the car felt great leaving the line but it quickly dropped off after that. I am missing 8-9MPH in the 1/8th at this boost level and who knows what in the 1/4. I still plan on using a manometer to pressure test the cold side piping to make sure there are no leaks there.

I obviously want to go as fast as I can but mid to low 9's for now may even be a bit on the pushing side with this tc78 on a 370. I am just wondering do I go to a quality air to air or a Air to water?

Only you can answer that question. I've used both and have buddies that have both. I run an AtW now, but the car is going 8.7 at 165 and makes a lot of heat. The AtW keeps it safe.

Ran the AtA down to 8.98, but the ait's went to 145F and that was too much for me.

Much. much easier and cheaper going AtA. No water, ice, pump plumbing, elec, weight, etc to fool with....but AtA on gasoline has it's limits. If you stay AtA I would use a horizontal flow 12"x24" core at least 4" thick. I used 6" thick.

Thanks for the help. I will more than likely stick with air to air until this winter and then swap to a water set up when I pull the engine to go thru it.
