I'd say that cam is way too small for a 402, it's the 225/225 cam right? It would work really good in a 4.8 or 5.3, haha.

Ah, I was thinking of the wrong one, the 225/225 must be the tu1.

The TU2 will work decent, i'd still prefer to have a bigger cam in a 402, but if it's a street car it will have good street manners and get the job done. A friend of mine has that cam in his 408 and it has good street manners and went 158 mph in the 1/4 on about 20 psi from a couple of turbonetics 67mm turbos, wasn't too shabby.

That is a great turbo cam.

Most people try to over cam turbo cars. With a turbo car you want as little overlap as possible, with the tighetest lsa you can get away with to help build boost.

As you saw where phil posted in the how to stage an auto turbo car that advancing the cam will allow the turbo to spool faster.

Also with a turbo car SCR is crucial as it helps with cylinder filling and building boost.

I don't think you will be dissapointed with that cam and it should have great manners in a 402.

I run this cam in a 418 and can't say anything but good about it. My tq comes on huge and I don't have to rev the car out at all. My power does pk pretty early and tapers off a little which I would assume is from the cam being so small in the 418. But the drivability is amazing and I made great numbers so far

418 ls3
dart pro1 heads
ls6 intake mani
FI S-88
Pk hp is listed at bottom right of the graph and it drops off early because I let off the gas not because it runs out. On other pulls I ran it to 6700 and it holds the power to the top. I had really soft timing and rich A/F which was not helping.

But needless to say I was really happy as this is on 12.5lbs/pump gas

Single pattern cams with relatively tight lsa's (112-114) seem to be the way to go now a days on turbo cars as they keep the scr up which promotes better cylinder filling thus really helping to give the turbo a kick in the pants in the spooling department down low. Single pattern's seem to like headers feeding the turbo, while small split reverse grinds seem to help a truck/c6 manifold set-up better. Although as long as you don't have a big traditional split cam with a really tight lsa and you err to the small side with the aforementioned attributes I talked about above no choice would be wrong.

These are observations I have made on the big player's cams and also what I have heard from one or two VERY well renowned and respected cam guru's out there this same information.

My cam is a old grind TR came out with a long time ago, yet it works because it sticks to those guidelines for a manifold set-up. I'd say 50% plus people can't even tell my car has a cam. Now I do have a Dynomax 3" bullet in the I-pipe and a Dynomax Ultra Race Magnum 1 chamber muffler 3" inlet/dual dual OTL 2.5" outlets keeps it really mellow until I get on it.

In short, all the speed inc cams stick to these principles also and they work time and time again. Good choice can't wait to see what this baby makes and runs!

Im running a 228/288 in a similar setup and I can tell you the cam sounds weak. You should go for something in the low to mid 23xs to be honest.

Oh my bad. The TU1 is 225/225 correct? Then yeah the TU2 would be a pretty good mild mannered cam for that setup.
