Default Turbo Manifold Idea....don't laugh

Here's the deal, I going to put a LS1 into a 350z, and I want to turbo it. The motor itself fits beautifully with the sikky kit, but I would love to put a turbo setup either twins or a single (would love to do twins). The problem with this is there is only a few inches between the engine bay wall and the heads, which means pretty much every single cast manifold that would be facing upward and obviously backwards won't fit (dont want to do downward for a reason, not an option when trying to keep a/c). Read up on log setups, seems some love it some hate it. Read up on forward facing headers, and seems to be the best for performance. Because of space reasons, the 4 in 1 header design wont work. I thought of this idea where it would sort of be a head and log design mixed, a 2 in 1 setup. The front two cylinders join, and the back two cylinders join, which both join into one. I made this beauty in paint to further explain...

It would be 1.75" primarys, the one flowing into the other, and a collector with a 2.25" outlet. What do you guys think? The benefit would be a thin manifold style which may work better than a typical log, but save more space than a 4-1 header design. Any input positive or negative is more than welcome, bring on the heat.

Might just work, I don't see why it couldn't work.

IMO if you can fit that design, you can fit a 4-1.

Yea i did, but he lost a/c, which im going to do my best to try to keep. With the ls1 in the 350z I think there is EVEN LESS room between the heads and engine bay walls. With the 2 in 1 setup the two primarys would be stacked, to it would be half the width of the 4-1, until the colletor of course.

drop the primarys to 1 5/8 and it should work really well. No need for that big of a primary, should give you more room as well. The 2.25" piping is spot on.

My primaries on my TM's are 1 5/8's no need for anything bigger. I think my crossover is 2.25" it might be 2.5" the exhaust wrap makes it look a lot bigger than it is.

Awesome thanks for the help guys, it seems 1 5/8's primarys to a 2.25" collector is the way to go

Just build a log type setup and make sure that all the primaries go into the log on a 45* instead of a 90*. It'll work fine.

Nothing wrong with a Tri-y setup. Also logs do perform well.....Parish's nova wagon has twins with logs.

Op, rear mount may be the simplest way to go. I'm using sikkys headers, lt1 3" y pipe w/ 4" extension, and my old evo 3" downpipe with a 16" extension and it fits flawless and my 76mm turbo has over half a foot clearance, and my 350z is slammed! Just remember to insulate any rear mount as best possible to reduce lag

A try Y will works awesome if its designed right, just make sure the tubing is sized correctly. IMO a Try Y takes more room than a 4 into 1 but what do I know.

Wow really?! Im shocked it takes more room than a 4 in 1, with the 2 in 1 being half the width. Can you further explain?

are you going to make it the right way or half *** it? Having 3 collectors adds alot of length to the design.

each collector is 4-4.5" long, On paper it looks compact but once you design it, you'll see. You've got 8-9" of collectors to account for.

Yea i see what you are saying. The way i pictured it, i would merge the one primary in the one behind it by welding them together, with the front most primary angled and swooping. Thats what i ment by a log/header design. If not using all collectors is your idea of "half ***", then i guess it would be. But as long as the one primary isnt into the other at a 90 degree angle, it cant be terrible right? But what do i know, and i mean that literally lol
