Default Will a 2.5 in intercooler be To restrictive ?

I'm thinking of intercooling my nice but space is limited behind the grill so I'm needing a intercooler that's 28-30"x8-9"x3" but the only coolers I can find in that dimension are 2.5" inlet/outlet,so my question is if I go with a 2.5" will it flow enough to not be a problem at say 14-19 psi with a 88mm turbo?

you can't fit a larger core behind your grill area?

I had a 2.5" with my t-trim and it wasn't big enough. Wasnt making over 5psi. Upgraded to 3" cooler and piping and made 10psi.

His setup is a S488 blow through carb on a 408 in a 63 Nova, so the intercooler isn't as big of a deal. I would get the core that you can fit even if it has 2 1/2 in/out and then take it to a welding shop and have them cut the in/out off and weld in some bead rolled 3" tubes to the end tanks.

then i wouldn't even run one with the carb. even pump gas has about a 50 degree temp drop though it.

Maybe on E85...not regular fuel, especially of the manifold is heat soaked. Atomization does cause cooling (windchill) but not that much.

IN the case of the OP, like already said, just cut the 2.5 elbows off and weld some 3" ones and and you have what you need, only as long as the core can support the flow of your motor under boost at maximum rpm without bottlenecking.

Have you calculated the flow of the motor at "X" psi at max rpm? Then look at the spec for the core if even available, usually they arent if its a universal IC.

I usually build my own IC, I buy the proper core(s) and build the tanks and weld on the elbows where I need them, this way I know it will flow properly for the system.

haven't done an LS, but on a BBC 540 with an M3 at 10lbs on the dyno, it did. running 92 pump gas.
