Plan on taking out some fast imports next year.
I was talking to some friends yesterday. Basically just joking with them, saying that I want to run them when the s10 is done next year. They said, I better come prepared and be able to hang. I know 2 of the 3 cars are mid to high 10 second street cars. The cars in question are, an evo 9, twin turbo skyline, and a turbo civic. They said I better be running 9's, so I'm not sure if they plan on doing upgrades over the winter. The plan with my truck is a cammed LM7, D1SC running 15lbs and meth, in a 2wd reg cab truck. Before the motor goes in the truck, I'm installing arp rod bolts, comp cams blower cam with better springs and pushrods. It'll be pretty much stock unless you guys can give some other suggestions. The 4l60e I'm rebuilding with the Monster In A Box kit from Monster Transmission. The rearend is getting beefed up with posi, stronger axles and maybe 3.73 gears. Eventually going with a 4link, coilovers and a 12 bolt. I think as the truck sits now with the 4.3L, it weighs around 3200-3300lbs, but with the V8 and procharger kit, I'm not sure what it would weigh, and I can't even give a guess on what the rwhp numbers would be at that much boost. I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention a few things, and I am open to suggestions on things I should run or upgrades to my plans. Any guesses to hp numbers or 1/4 et's are welcome too. If you want to check out the cars in action, go to youtube, put in miltownimports or one-sixx tuning. It's a blue evo, gold cIvic hatch, and a black skyline. I'm not talking **** about my friends or imports. I actually like imports and have one. Just like muscle cars a little more. I think I can take em. Lol
I was thinking of going turbo, but I like the idea of the blower being a bolt on deal. I really don't know how to weld and don't have a welder. Plus I'm seeing more and more turbo s10's when was the last time you've seen a procharged lsx s10? I'm not putting turbos down though. I just want to do most of the work myself.
It takes time and much effort to sort out a new build that will run those numbers. You should have no problem making 650-700 horsepower with that combo if properly setup and tuned. That should get you in the high 9's if the suspension is dialed in.
first: good luck on the bet and with your setup, you shd not have a prob. i've made alot of folks eat their words in v8 s10s... we put a 2 dr blazer to 12.68 for $2000 once and took $500 from a guy that said we couldn't...
second: thank you for showing me Monster Transmissions. their prices seem to be good, let me know about the reliability with it as i hope to build the same power levels it sounds like you are planning.

Thanks for the words of confidence guys. High 9's in a STREET truck is fine with me
. I'll blacktop the streets of Milwaukee, 2 lines at a time. Narx66gmc, I've heard a lot of good things about Monster. The thing I was wondering about is, is it safe to have a tank of 100% meth within feet the battery? Also what fuel pump should I run? I want to run 80lb injectors and 93 pump gas.

Your biggest challenge against the evo and the skyline is going to be traction. Both those guys are AWD. You are rear wheel drive without any weight on the rear wheels. You wont have a prayer on the street. Even from a high roll unless you put a ton of ballast in the back. The Civic will be your best bet because he will need a high roll also for traction. On the track, with a good suspension, you could bust their asses though as the sticky surface actually allows the weight to transfer in a truck that is setup properly.
My turbo rat is on a 88 s10 frame. I installed two walbros in the tank. It was a PITA but I did it. Used stock lines.
Traction isn't too bad but I put a lot of weight in the back plus I moved the engine 4" back from where you will have it.

i havent gotten my truck to the track yet. i was gonna wait til spring when i can afford cal-tracs, drag radials, and shocks...
its already pretty fast. 15 psi can not floor it at any speed so far with street tires...
7 psi itll do rolling burnouts at 40 easily..
i gps'd it today on my phone, on 7psi from a dead stop, street tires spinning multiple times at first it reached 111mph in 8 seconds. on 7psi... i cant wait to get drag radials on and turn up the boost...
(reg cab sonoma, lq4, tc78)

The thing with the skyline, he runs heavy 22" rims and I believe street tires. I was thinking of running cal-tracs til the coilovers go in. I know its not much, but the battery and a 4gal tank of water/meth, will be in the bed. I'll be rolling on some dragradials.
I was talking to other people bout these races. They seem to think these imports are unbeatable, especially vs a s10. Then I tell them a boosted V8, and they either shut up or say, it'll be a good race. Lol
