Default Turbo Build Ideas!!! Opinions and suggestions Please!!!!

Just like the title says I am in the planning stages of putting together a twin turbo setup on my 04 GTO M6!!! I am wanting to do a front mount twin 76mm turbos! I am wanting to make some where in the range of 600+rwhp daily driven with less then 8000 miles a year! I know the heat maybe an issue but I am going to do what ever I can to get around it!!! I am going to keep the IRS for now but will at some point do a 9 inch swap in the rear! I am thinking of using truck manifolds! It will remain the stock 5.7 which will be studded! I am unsure on cam selection which I am sure I will go with a custom grind!!! Suggestions would be greatly appreciated on cam setup! I plan on keeping the M6 upgraded of course! Who is the best at built M6's??? I am needing some suggestions on the intercooler! Let the opinions and suggestions come!

Thanks

That's way too much turbo for your goals.

are you on LS1gto??

Most every turbo GTO has its build on that site, most of them dont post here.

And like cobrakiller said, WOW, thats alot of turbo for nothing really, a nice single will cost 30% less and be just as easy to fabricate.

Do some research over their for different turbo setups, their is NO kit for our cars anymore. Unless you order from Aussie land.

You can look up my username here or over their and see my single build with a tc78 it was more then enough turbo for 600whp

If I can get in the range of 800+ daily driven then I would be even happier! I know that twin 76s will give me much more power but I was just trying to stay modest for the sake of the stock internals! I will be building a 408 later and I want that motor to have twin 76mms so I don't want to buy 2 different setups!

Yeah I am on LS1GTO.com! I don't get on there very often tho! I have spent some time on there today reading through some build threads!

I think you are still missing the point, twin 76s is still alot of turbo. Even for 800whp, especially when one 76 can come very close to, or make more then 800whp. LOL

Being you want to keep the 6 speed, just do a single 76 and call it good, build a nice 347 later if you want, and run the **** out of it at 800rwhp. No reason to build twins or a bigger motor, you'll never put the power down and will just destroy your transmissions.

I would also recommend just a single 76. I just built a twin Precision 67/65 427 GTO. Search my name on LS1GTO. You definately dont need twin 76's. It will destroy the drivetrain, even on low boost.

Treadstone makes a nice intercooler for that, its in my build thread as well.

Are you prepared to spend the money? Twin turbos are just part of the equation. Twin 76's will make enough power to NEED a $5000 tranny, a $6000 9" IRS, a $3000 fuel system, a $2000 minitub, a $2000 set of drag wheels and tires to have any hope of hooking it up. Are you ok with sticking 20-60k in your GTO? Thats what it will eventually take.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and bringing me to reality! I knew I could get to my hp range with a single 76 but didn't realize I would have to get that extreme with the rest of the drive train!

I'm slowing building a single mid frame 78mm setup for my built 347.. I'm hoping to see 900 with it cranked up..

trust us... get out the check book and keep it out.. waste gates blow offs LOTS of fittings.. all adds up really fast..

for what your looking for I'm sure that a PTE 76-78 would be more then enough. i went with the larger mid frame cuz i plan on pushing things to the limit..
you could also look for a tc76-78 and make great power.. those can be had all over the place for 600-800 bucks used and 1000 new..

good luck man have fun but be smart about it too many people buy parts and then change their minds.. i have done it once or twice already and it only cost money to do that...

I can assure you that its not as bad as made out in above posts regarding mods needed . The GTO being an aussie made vehicle is something we have been modding for years over here . Your M6 will be fine as will your diff . Clutch will need to be upgraded , other then that just the usual additions due to boost will be needed eg : injectors, fuel system etc .

There are quite a few off the shelf kits available over here , but , am not sure what direction to point you in as your 800hp power figure on dyno's over your end read a reasonable amount higher then ours do here.

I had got your point but I WAS dead set on the twin turbo setup but everyone is right about me getting over head with the twin 76s! I am going to just run a single 76mm front mount!
