Default Heads question.

so i have a blown head gasket and am looking to put together a solid unported head. i wanna build it just so the valve train will be stronger...

i heard from a friend that i can get whatever thickness head gasket from some company... if i get the thickest i can then that would raise compression and i can run more boost?

what springs valves retainers pushrods are good for boost? i already have 1.6's sitting at home so i will use them too...

with a better valve train can i run more boost than 7 or 8 lbs?

Running a thicker head gasket LOWER's compression. It does not raise it. Lowering compression allows you to run more boost like you said, but don't get carried away with a thick gasket. Go too far and it can do more harm than good.

Springs, you just want higher seat pressure spring. You can most likely run 7 or 8 lbs of boost on the OEM springs you have. 8lbs is not that much as far as valve springs are concerned. I would be more concerned with correct fuel injectors or tuning before I would worry about springs on 8lbs of boost.

Well if you want to do them, it definitely would not hurt anything. It is also cheap insurance to blowing a valve open. But I doubt it would happen at only 8psi.

I would wait to get a more experienced individual on the LSX engines to answer though.

I'd be more worried running more boost and throwing/bending a rod even with the lower compression and valvetrain upgrades.

I'm trying to convince him to get the lsx block or LQ9 for it if that happens.
