Who's going fast on 17inch or larger drag radial?
Im thinking of making my goal 9s on a low profile 17 or 18 inch rim. So probably a 315/35. I wil be using a 2 step and t brake.
Who's doing it on boost?

I dont know if you'd call it fast anymore but my 71 Nova is running 10.45 at 132 with a single turbo 6.0 at approx 650rwhp on 315/35/17 555R Nitto's. This is leaving at 2500rpm off the footbrake and 0 boost. I would not be able to leave on a transbrake or under any boost. The suspension is not dialed in for drag racing, more autox though.
Good luck on your quest for nines, I should be there too on 17's. It does get noticed at the track because the car definatley doesnt look like a drag car with the bigger street wheels/tires. I think that is the cool part that keeps me from putting a 15" drag setup on it.

I did 9.22 on a 17" DR with the stock WS6 rims on the car. Transbrake and 2-step were used. I didn't build much boost and it's tricky not blowing the tires off just past the launch but if the track is hooking I can do it. I did it at 3400RPM on the 2-step. Around 908 RWHP at that time.
Mighty Mouse was running 8.70's with the 17" DR. I think he was putting a lot more power to the ground than I am right now.

Thats awesome to hear. I wonder how the car feels once past 120mph. I always hate how the larger side wall slick feels once you get going. Feels like the rear is swaying.
Thats another reason I want to make the switch.

The 17" DR's feel like normal street tires on the big end when you let off the gas. Solid and straight. On the slicks it tends sway back and forth. I'm used to it so it doesn't scare me anymore but the first time was a bit scary.
