Question on BW s400-75ett
I have been searching for awhile and it seems every thread has about 10 different turbo choices or a different build. I am looking at the BW s400-75ett and would just like some input looking at either 96ar or 1.0ar going to be street use basicly stock lq4 only changing valve springs gaskets and using headstuds. Would this turbo be a decent choice for my build or should i go smaller also it will be a truck manifold front mount so will i have any space issues with it besides standing up the rad. looking at pushing 8-12psi 12 being on meth no real hp goals if i break 500rwhp ill be happy but trying to make as much as i can safely.

Have you considered the ST80/ S380? 80mm comp/ 83 or 87 turbine wheel? You don't want to go too small because you'll have issues with the turbine side of the turbo causing backpressure problems.

I have but thought they may be to big lol i think with my lack of turbo size knowledge ill just contact 1 of the sponsers tell them what i am looking for an go from there

My 83mm turbined S400 on a 6.0 runs 145mph at 3300#, at 16psi and the cheap beehive PAC springs, if there were back pressure issues, those springs wouldnt work at 16psi.

Yeah that would make too much sense though, any minute the morons who have never even seen an S400 in person will be along to tell us all how that turbine will result in huge back pressure and how only a PT106 with 1.50 g-trim will work.

However, people keep saying "That turbine is too small!" While I don't have first hand experience on a 6.0 liter, I can tell you that I didn't even start building any boost at all until 4,000rpm on a 3.0 liter.
I figure put a 1.25 A/R on it and maybe start building somewhere around 23-2800rpm.

I wasnt attacking you, just making a general statement that most the people telling you 83mm turbine is too small for a 6.0 dont have any actual experience with them or anything close to them like a PT76.

The PT76 has made over 900 rwhp on a 347 size engine. The turbine wheel flows very similar to the 83mm BW wheel, as the PT is a 83mm inducer 75mm exducer. The BW 87 wheel is a 87mm inducer and 80mm exducer. The BW 83 is 83/75. It will make plenty of steam, someone correct if I'm wrong but I believe the 475 compressor wheel flows around 98-102 lbs/min and the PT76 is 110 lbs?

Funny you mention that, my 6.0L with the big s475 (96mm turbine) was just fine at 16psi with a cam and STOCK 80k mile valvesprings. I plumbed in a guage for backpressure one time at 12psi and it was right around 13-14psi of backpressure

Yeah amazing how far the stock springs can even go. I had my s400 with 83mm T4 turbine on the totally stock LQ4 (99k miles) with stock springs and stock cam and it did great at 13psi, ran 136mph in the 1/4 mile that way, ran it up to 6000rpm all the time and had no issues.

The op said he would be happy with 500+ wheel. A stock 6.0l is 364ci the tc78 or a gts78 would be great for him. Going to a t6 turbo is going to be a lot bigger. I still run a t4 on mine. So does 98cobrakiller. Ninetres did. Venomws7 does.mightymouse does too. So unless you want over 1200hp stay with a t4. Over 1200 the t6s seams to be better. But that's because the inducers and exducers on the turbine wheel are just bigger.
