Not me I threw the idea around with my wife, and she said that it was plain badass, So I'm taking my old spare Datsun 240z engine and making a nice table out of it right now for our livingroom!

Its only a hundred bucks but it would have been better to just walk away.
My 5.3 was 400 with accessories from a junkyard. And a friend of mine bought a running 5.3 for 150. And I picked one up for a buddy for 325, that one was in WV though and we grabbed it as we were passing through.

everywhere I have looked around me, people are asking anywhere from $700-$1000 for 5.3's and 4.8's. When I saw this for sale I jumped on it. I figure I could tear a motor down and see what was causing a small "knock" for $100. If it was just lifters or something small like that, then I would be ahead of the game. I may end up seeing what it will cost to clean the cylinder up and replace the rod and piston. I think it would be fun to see how far I could get with it.

You got that right! Sick to death of these guys acting like they are giving these things away just because a few guys found a steal. Yeah I have found money on the ground before it doesn't mean its falling from the sky.

For $100 he'll be fine, he won't lose out on anything, to me I just wouldn't ever look at a knocking 4.8/5.3 as here in KS a good running motor is so cheap. If I had more room I was going to build an engine run stand and buy up a bunch of them and sell them on craigslist/etc, that way people could come over and look at them and hear them run before buying them. I just don't have the storage space to keep that many extra motors laying around plus an engine run stand.

Good deals can be found they just aren't raining down. I recently bought a pair of 6.0's. Both were suppose to be good runners. I paid a cheap to good price. One was okay but had light rust in one cylinder. The other had 2 rusty cylinders and 2 cam bearings were destroyed and came out with the camshaft, "good running." I bought them expecting to rebuild them so it was okay. But not cool.

Oh and I will side with you on this a little I have noticed that when selling things that some people were not willing to travel. I sold a car a few months back advertised craigslist car sold same day but I actually had a couple guys say 25 miles was a long way to travel to look at the car.??? You do have to be willing to travel farther than the end of your driveway.
