Default Wastegate ?'s..Can U manually open valve?

44mm wastegate
11lb spring

I tryed to manually push valve openby pushing it with soft end of small deadblow hammer. I put a lil effort into it but doesnt seem to crack open?
Should I be able to maually open valve?

FYI... i did this being curious on how stiff a 11lb. spring is. This seems to be way to hard for air pressure to open.

Hey bro I'm having the same issue difference is mine is a tial 38mm with a 12lb spring and I cannot compress it. I going to hook a vacuum gun to it and see what happens....

10 Psi spring will be very hard to manually open. Best way to check the gate is to hook up an air compressor with a gauge and regulator then turn up the regulator and see at what Psi the gate starts to crack open and also what psi its fully open.

If you put the end of your dead blow on the valve and then put the gate on the floor, you can push it open. It will still take quite a bit of effort.

I put an 8psi spring in my gate and I can barely open it with both thumbs. This is normal.

But yes, the compressor and regulator method is the proper way to check the spring pressure. Cracking pressure should be roughly half of full open pressure.

Simple calculation says you need about 25 lbs of force to open the wastegate. Is that about how much you're exerting? I wouldn't hit it with a deadblow.

why are you hitting your wastegate with a hammer? lol geeeeeez they are too pricey for that.

agree with above, try with an air compressor.

He is using the dead blow to push with.
The spring is hard to move.
If you do the math for the area of the diaphragm and the force being applied
vs air PSI the valve should open at or near the boost rating.

Lolz!
Use the compressed air method to check cracking and open pressure

Even a really light spring is pretty hard to open. Think about how much pressure you need just to get the cap on the wastegate when installing the spring. You're fine
