Default Which GT45s turbos do I purchase?

Hey guys,

Looking to do a twin turbo buildup this winter for my 4th Gen Fbody. I've been reading a lot about the ebay turbos and intercoolers. I've even seen a video that was posted here about a Nova with twin GT45s making over 800RWHP. Not to bad at all.

My question is, which GT45s do I buy? There seems to be quite a few on ebay. I'm looking to make 800+RWHP. I currently have a stock 6.2 L92 motor that I'm going to be using for now. Then once I get the turbo system running right I'm going to take the engine back out and build it.

Here's one that I was looking at on ebay...
Compressor Size: Inlet = 4 3/16", Inducer = 68.7MM, Exducer = 97.8 MM, Trim = 69,A/R = 0.66, Intake (ID / OD) = 2.25" / 3.25"

Turbine: Outlet = 4", Turbo flange = T4, Downpipe flange = 3.5" V-band, Inducer = 87.4 MM, Exducer = 77 MM,Trim = 92, A/R = 1.05

Thanks in advance.

I got a tc78 with about 30 passes on it ill sell anytime after dec 10. 700bucks

But man, i know im a cheap *** but dude ive been down this road before so dont get mad at what im about to say..

Just think you spend 300-400 bucks on a ebay unit (when for less than a 1000 you can have a good quality unit with a warrenty), build a DP, get the oil lines and the inlet coupler and all the good stuff done. Then a month or two later it craps out and you get a different turbo (and spend another 300-400) then you have to do it all over. Or the intake blade spinnie turbine thing shatters, there goes your motor.. Or the oil seals blow out on a hard pull and your 100 miles from home.. Dude all of this stuffs happened to me and now i just buy turbonectics or precisions and i never have a problem. And i make alot more power!

Im sure your going to be just like i was and go with the ebay one. Your learn though

No, I see you're point and I don't turn down advice when it comes to stuff like this. I've always been the one to build everything using second hand stuff or certain ebay stuff. Till this day everything has held up fine...knock on wood.

Anyhow, I sent you a PM.

Don't let anyone steer you away from the gt45' or (y2004k) turbo...its a solid unit.... look it up. theturboforums.com...4 years of posts on it and not one failure......and FYI its the same physical size as a few of the masterpower t4 turbos so if you win the lottery down the road you can just bolt the new turbo on your piping

I've been following your threads man. Good stuff.

I was wondering if I were to purchase two (2) GT45 with the specs that I listed in my first post, would they be a good setup for twins on a 6.2L.

I just want to know, are these good size turbos for a 6.2L or are they just too big? Planning on making 800-1000HP to the wheels

The real Garrett GT-4580 will make your 800 + rwhp with one turbo. If you're on a real tight budget the single turbo route wins every time.
